Thing is I think the Atwell draft and getting DJax was more about committing to the deep ball and when McVay found he could run those routes with our top 3 guys in KUPP, Woods and Jefferson, the need for DJax diminished.
Also, don’t underestimate that McVay likely didn’t like DJax not fighting for that TD where he eased up and just cruised out of bounds.

Punt returning, more so than most positions, is almost more of a thing you can do naturally than something you could be coached into doing or forced to do.
Either you feel comfortable catching a ball coming down to you from high with guys running at you and are able to see the opening all at once - or you can't.
Not everybody can do it or be coached to do it at a high level.
That makes Tutu Atwell a square peg being forced into a round hole in about three different ways.

I am not sure about the no feel for the game yet since he was never really used as a KR or PR in college.
I did like how he caught passes in the preseason but I truly believe he is too small to last in this league long.
Although shoulder injuries can happen to anyone, I didn't see him get hit by anyone to really suffer a season ending shoulder injury like that. He is too delicate for this game.

It’s going to be very difficult to add muscle in the off-season when he will be restricted with that shoulder for a while.

Personally... looking at his frame... I'm not sure there would be a lot of weight gained anyway.
He's a small dude. 10-15lbs makes him continue to be a small dude.
And Tutu is why I didn't mind sending those draft picks off for a proven vet. The Tutu pick was much worse then getting a contributor. I cannot see when Tutu will ever be a contributor in the NFL. He gets thrown around like a rag doll every time he gets the ball. It was only a matter of time before he got broken. It pains me to look at the draft and see all the solid players behind this pick we could have drafted instead.
Yea he didn't get hit by anyone. Just fell to the ground and gravity injured his shoulder. Gravity, the weakest of the four fundamental forces of nature almost ripped his arm off. His own body couldn't hold up to falling down. Delicate is an understatement, every time he got hit in preseason he got de-cleated.
I have no gripe with our current strategy and trading top picks for proven talent. BUT, when that is your strategy you cant take risky players with your top picks. It's not sustainable. The only way we can keep this formula going is to hit on majority of our mid round picks...and also get lucky with a few late rounders. Drafting a 5th WR who is 5'8 150lbs is not smart given the scarcity of our draft capital.

Well now that Atwell is done, it's become more apparent that DJax is most likely just a selfish ass player. Being 4th on our WR depth chart isn't a bad gig at all. The guy has made his money and most likely isn't going to break the bank wherever he goes. His need to shine and play outweigh his desire to win. Does anyone honestly think his playing time won't be managed wherever he goes thanks to his injury history? Bye Felicia
I agree with much of the anger and frustration over DeSean Jackson, I wish he could remain on the Team.
I expect he will be gone in the coming hours ... probably by release. Just hope it does not hurt the Rams.
Jackson still has speed and big-play-ability. Even in limited snaps, it was evident. The TD vs Tampa; plus the short cross against the Bucs where he easily pulled-away from the CB for another 25 yards. The deep-pass against the Seahawks where Jackson came-back for the under-thrown, and then ran across the field for another 20 yards ... huge play in that game. Also had a couple long almost-TDs early in the season ... on one Stafford's arm was hit; and the other was an under-throw.
The Rams' offense may not "need" Jackson if everyone stays healthy but the season is a battle-of-attrition.
Jefferson can step-up if Kupp or Woods go-down but then who's the #3? I liked what Skowronek did on Sunday but it's expecting a lot for there to not be a significant drop-off if any of the top-three-WRs (Kupp, Woods or Jefferson) go down.

And yet he survived college football. They must have went easy on him.
I missed the part where his arm was hanging by ligaments and bone shards... but I did see how a collarbone could be broken hitting the ground like that. When a little guy who hasn't been in the league long enough to build any muscle and he doesn't know how to return punts and is going to get destroyed by unblocked gunners, injury seems highly likely.
Also, as to gravity.... It's like the wu tang clan. It ain't nuthin' to fck with.
I hope he gets better and bigger but my hopes aren't very high..
He never was a PR and hopefully will never be seen there again.
Worst part was watching MNF and hearing how much Chiefs love LB Bolton who was taken with the very next pick after we took TuTu

Yep. Built like me. No amount of weight lifting ever made me big. People couldn’t believe how much I could eat. The only things that worked was an OTC supplement from GNC that turned out to be a synthetic steroid. Once my hair started falling out I became very suspicious and stopped taking it. The other was a specific training program that only focused on fast twitch muscles only. But once I stopped I went right back to my original size.Personally... looking at his frame... Tutus size is a glaring weakness when you can compare it to someone you know. My freshman son is 5-8” and 180 lbs. he looks like a monster compared to Tutu.
