I appreciate what you are saying here.
My thoughts are about trying to understand why we are getting threads like these when we all know we are not always gonna win — and especially when it’s not even a losing season (-and it may very well turn out to be the case - and on the flip side we may make the playoffs too)
Am I annoyed by all the team bashing and end of the world dramatics? Yes.
Could I be wrong about the impact on jilted fans - possibly yes.
Just trying to work through what’s happening on this board.
I think we're getting threads like this because our expectations were higher coming into this season. It's a let down. And it sucks.

When we know the team ain't good, then it's no big deal.

I've been a diehard since '73, and this season has been worse than any other I can recall, because we should be better. It pisses you off when they underperform and play lack luster football...don't you think?

I thought we’d be in the hunt. Wasn’t expecting Satan’s Friends to be 10-1
Last week was humiliating for sure — But thank goodness my house was in danger of burning down and that sorta sidetracked me from any rage I might have felt otherwise :D

I believe some people just vent more than others.

I can’t speak for others. But as for me.

Why the shit can’t we always be in the hunt like the Hawks and Steelers and Pack. Just to name a few. The thought of dropping off the NFL map again really sucks.

As for a “teams” Culture. I truly believe that starts at the top with staying the course and build a team culture.

Then the sky is falling threads will cease.

This season is somehow shaking off the last of the St Louis Ram fan contingent.

It’s interesting to see that some of you guys — despite knowing that every game only one team can win and another has to lose — are so disgruntled this year. I mean this fact is well known and knowing this you’ve been a fan of the Rams nonetheless through thick and thin.

But now something has changed?
What is it?

I mean why are some ready to jump ship on a competitive team at 6-5. Not a losing record folks. But why?

I think it’s cause how some have identified with this team aside from wins and loses is gone. The team is in LA and no longer in St Louis. It was fine for that first year and then the past two seasons with the playoffs and the NCF Championship and Super Bowl appearance, but without those wins to keep you in it, there is nothing here to keep you on board.

Teams will win and lose.
We all know this
And we all know this narrative about McVay being washed up or our players not being worth money is just the surface bullshit to justify the fact you no longer identify with the team culturally

So go.
Stop watching the Rams.
Just get in line with The Hammer, Coach O, DCH and all the others who have jumped ship.

We will miss you for a bit. Then we will forget. Then we will be reminded when you pop back in a future date when we are kicking ass again.

Farewell my former Ram friends. The door won’t hit you on the way out cause they are always open for you.

GO RAMS
RAMS FOREVER
The past couple years we've picked up some new fans and some tourist fans. I look at this not as a chance to lose St. Louis brothers and sisters but as a chance to get rid of those tourist fans that have the sky is falling mentality everytime the going gets tough. No im not talking about anyone specifically. Those people know who they are. A lot of us were expecting playoffs and maybe even a superbowl this year but some never prepared themselves for reality and now can't handle the fact that we're most likely out of the playoffs this year. But here's how I look at yes it sucks watching your team struggle to score and continue to shoot themselves in ther foot but that doesn't hold a candle to that feeling of knowing the season is over and there isn't another Rams game until August. Win or lose I get just as excited come Sunday.

First of we are not at the dawn of a ten year losing skid. And if we were who cares?

I think every fan should care if we are about to start a 10 year losing streak. if we didn't care we could say who cares if we win tomorrow. I quess your point is after we lose we should forget it and move on but before we play we should act like we are playing for super bowl. that is simply hard for a lot of us to do.

I totally disagree. This team is built for the long term. They have a young talented QB, the deepest WR corps in the league, two good talented TE's. This team showed what it can do with a good o-line. That o-line takes time to build and I think they have the guys to do it. Enough of this instant gratification stuff.

People are throwing in the towel after only 5 losses? What kind of fans are you? They have talent on both sides of the ball....elite talent. The o-line is showing that it's coming together. The coaching staff needs to really clean house with Blythe and Havenstein by putting them on the bench where they belong. Simply play break downs show neither is any good.

But bottom line this team has enough young talent to be very good for a very long time. They haven't even allowed David Long to play even though he's better than Hill. Take the blinders off and really look seriously at the level of talent on the team.

They have the makings of a very good offense next year with just who they already have:

O-line: LT Noteboom, LG Corbett, C Allen, RG Evans, RT Edwards
QB: Goff, Wolford
RB Gurley and Henderson
WR Woods, Cooks, Kupp, Reynolds
TE: Everett, Higbee

Defense
DE: Ogbo
NT: Gaines
DT: Donald
WIL: Fowler
OLB Ebukam
MIKE: Littleton
MO: Young
CB: Ramsey & Long
Safeties: Rapp, Johnson

Look at that starting roster, their are no old vets, it's a young team with real talent at every position.
How is that not building for the future. Noteboom proved last year he's going to be a good LT. Corbett, Evans and Edwards look solid and Allen was outplaying Sullivan before his injury. All the ratings, not only PFF (whom I despise) showed Allen was playing better than the people on this board contend.

They look to have decent O-line depth with Brewer, and Shelton. WR they will have Reynolds and Webster. At CB they will have NRC, Hill and Williams. LB they have Reeder, Patrick and Howard. Safety they will have Christian, Gervase & Scott.

This team won't be drafting for starters next year. They will be drafting for depth. That's why trading that low first round pick away really isn't a factor when they got an elite starting talent in exchange.

Go ahead and look at next year's starting roster and see the youth and talent and then say they aren't built for the future. Get real dude. Everyone knew the issue would be the o-line but right now it looks like they are beginning to come together in that unit.

I look at this team and see a contender for a long time. They had a whole lot of changes in the roster and especially in the coaching staff this year. IMO that is the reason they have struggled compared to last year. But like all things of this nature it takes time to iron things out. As bad as things have looked this year, if you break it down it's really a matter of mistakes and poor execution, not lack of talent.

Most of all the coaching staff needs to not play guys simply because of being a so called veteran player, but play their talent instead. Why sit Ebukam over an over the hill Mathews? Why play Weddle when Rapp is outplaying him? Why keep being soft in the middle on run defense, with SJD who can't get penetration and disrupt plays, when Gaines keeps doing so in his limited snaps? Why keep playing Blythe who couldn't play RG and keeps making mistakes and bad calls at center when you have a better player in Shelton?

SNEAD YOU DRAFTED THE GUYS YOU WANTED, NOW PLAY THEM FOR GODSAKE!!!

This is a young talented team. They need to play that talent and let them grow into their potential.

Nope. That isn't how it works. Right now i could cull dozens of posts from this season, the SB season a year ago, or even from one of those 2-14 seasons awhile back and you wouldn't be able to figure out how well the team is ACTUALLY performing by putting them side by side.

It has little to do with team success. Sounds weird but it's true...at least if we're talking message boards here, which is the subject being discussed.

It's fan mentality. That's it. Some fans just need a perfect pocket to stay satisfied, engaged and objective. Most roll with the punches and take the highs and lows for what they are.

This particular message board is a nice home for the latter.

Now, let’s talk football. Goff is an issue and needs to go ASAP as soon as we can make the money work, he’s out.

what in the mother fuck?

he hasn't even started his extension yet and you're ready to push him out the door? fuck me.

Without question. From the day we drafted him. I’ve never been a fan. I want him to be great. But he just isn’t imo

Two of his four seasons he's been a legitimate pro-bowler. Coincidentally, the two seasons he made the Pro Bowl he had a solid offensive line. The two other seasons he had one of the worst OLs in the NFL. Even with that sucky line this season he has had a number of good games, despite little rushing support, a crappy line, etc.

Goff may or may not be great - but dumping him in the hopes that the Rams can find somebody else who can produce behind such a poor OL would be insane.

That's always the knee-jerk reaction. Erase the shit. People fail to look at the next step. Who the hell are you going to put in their place? Are they even a sure fix? Usually no. Look at all the trash in the history of this league. Nothing ever good comes from clearing the slate every couple of years.

Yeah I think I am prepared. I mean I wear clean underwear. In case I am in an accident. I look both ways before I cross the street. I haven't told a Highway Patrolman to kiss my ass in atleast a year. So yeah I guess I am prepared as much as anyone.

I think some of us just "fan" different. I'm hella critical of my teams when they are under-performing. With my kids, I'm the same way. I'm their biggest critic, but also their #1 fan. They probably hate it sometimes, but they know it's coming from a good place and it's all love.

We know what these guys are capable of, they SHOULD have come into this season ready to obliterate the league and prove the loss was a fluke. Instead they look like they were just happy to make it there.... and that's why I think most of use negative posters are so pissed. Definitely need to find a good balance of critique and encouragement though. The board gets too ugly when it's one extreme vs the other.

I admit that I'm more than disappointed and that I want to trade a good portion of the roster for draft picks. I admit that I don't see them making the playoffs at this point.

But to entirely give up on this team, even if they go through another ten year losing streak (which they won't)? Never.

this can't be disregarded.

i have no idea what happened in the offseason and how much into LA the players got with their new found fame. not sure how many commercials they've been in and if that distracted them some from the main goal. we'll never know if it has nothing or everything to do with their form this season.

but the drive doesn't seem to be there. their play against the ravens was lackluster. i don't care how good the opposition is but if they can score a td every drive for the first 6 drives and your offensese can't score a td then the players have a serious attitude problem.

Yep if you watched the game against the Cards today you can clearly see that Goff sucks and the team is trash and on a downward trend with no future.

Geeez if the fair weather fans want to bolt to the Niners let them. Better yet they can get seats cheap from the other LA team and spend the next 20 years complaining.
