I’ve been thinking a lot about this.

I’ve been watching the rams since 95 when they first came to St.Louis. I haven’t missed a televised game in over 20 years. I’ve dealt with the highs of the greatest show on earth, to 15 years of suck...to losing my team to another city, back to the high...and now the in between, the part where we could go one of two directions.

Are you prepared for potentially another shitty 10 years? We aren’t exactly built for long term success, we don’t have the pics or money. No one can question the loyalty I’ve had....but as I think about it, I honestly don’t know if I can handle it. I would probably stop watching football. Idk

Has anyone else thought of this?

Disclaimer—for all you asshats that love to be dramatic. I’m not saying they are going to suck. I’m just asking a hypothetical. My god, I made a comment about how Peters has been a stud since leaving and didn’t think we would win and the people giving me the “difference of opinion” shit was funny. I don’t need that again. Bringing down my ratings!

No money is really just next year and no picks is a bit of an overstatement, though not having a first rounder for two years won't help. And if Ramsey isn't resigned that will go down as the biggest blunder of Snead's very successful career.

The team has a lot of young talent, it sort of is built for the long term. In the NFL to me long term means 5 or so years. You cannot plan a decade out in this sport. It's unlikely IMO that this team will suck for 10 years.

Fix the OL, find a RB on the cheap and get McVay to makes some tweaks to the play design and the Rams are back in form.

What is going to be difficult is that the NFCW is going to be a dogfight in the coming years.

Part of the re- up should be coaching help for mcvay. It's obvious losing his coaches really hurt the team in my opinion.

well, I could point to the 70's and 80's as a counterpoint to the OP's point about extended losing seasons. We were almost bored with winning seasons because we didn't have a great QB, but had pretty much everything else (couldn't win the big one). So no, I don't concede to being losers for 15 years again.

This is a huge off season for Sean McVay as he's going to have to make some tough additions with his coaching staff. Wade Phillips could retire and IMO, he should let the likes of Shane Waldron & Jedd Fisch go and McVay cannot promote Joe Barry to DC, he might need to go outside the organization to hire Wade's replacement.

Been a Ram fan since the age of 7 (1973) and since the 90's and sports bars with satellites back then, watched most games the Rams have played. I believe in the Head Coach and the Quarterback, although, Goff needs to dedicate himself to the weight room IMO and get stronger and find out whatever Lamar Jackson did last off season and do that.

Keep in mind, that there will be coaches available off of Jay Gruden's staff including Jay Gruden, who I would like to see join the Ram coaching staff as they need to add coaches with an edge, teaching is fine, but sometimes you need to instill toughness as well and although it might be tough to have both Aaron Kromer and Bill Callahan on the same coaching staff, I would love it although not likely.

As to Wade Phillips, if he does indeed retire, then the only person I would consider internally is DB Coach Aubrey Pleasant, although, in a perfect world the Broncos fire Vic Fangio and he becomes the new Ram DC, but that is wishful thinking...I've never been a fan of the 3-4 defense and what the Raven did, exposes that type of defense as you can run right at it.

I am confident in this regime to turn it around, there is talent and good coaches so I feel very good about the future, plus they need to win in Los Angeles and ESK is putting a ton of jack into the new stadium and the Rams with the new uniforms & new stadium will do everything to ensure they pop in 2020.

I've missed Rams games and I assure you life goes on. On the road or vacation or even at home it doesn't matter. When watching the Rams is no longer enjoyable, stop watching. Life is too short to waste time, money and especially allegiance towards anything that doesn't deserve it.

I have yes, and it didn't cross my mind. Why? Because for the first time in a long time, there's stability. Owner, GM, and coach.

10 to 15 years of suck is from a lot more than on field play. We all know what they are. That's why teams like the Browns and Redskins are how they are.

Comparing the Rams now vs. say, 2007 as an org as a whole is night and day. Not worried.

Yep I'm prepared to not watch if the shit show returns. It's more on the NFL as a whole than just the Rams but I really don't care that much anymore. Not like I used to anyway. Back in the day I would not miss a game under any circumstance. Now I'm just as happy playing catch with my dogs.

Yeah some of you act like we are the Bengals this year. I mean really, worst we end up is 6-10 which won't happen. So we end up 8-8. An average team this year. It's not terrible and it's not like mcvay is the type of guy to sit on his hands.
I know we all had high expectations but in reality it's hard to get back to the playoffs after sucking in the SB. Most teams deal with the same issues. Look at the eagle's amd they won it.

Pro sports franchises are only as good as their ownership/management teams. The ones that are strong in this area may dip for awhile, but rarely, if ever, do they endure what we have gone through.

We are in very tough shape this offseason anyway you cut it (no money/few picks), but I do believe our ownership/management team is strong and will maintain a strong product over time.

am I prepared for what? the Rams becoming a bad/worst team in the NFL? I've been a fan since the the early 80s until now. I've seen this team be absolutely awful. So Yes I'm totally prepared. Will never stop being a fan of the Rams.

Totally prepared yes.
I’ve been saying since they let Saffold go and rolled the dice with the young, unproven OL long term success depends on drafting well.
That is a roll of the dice no matter what.
Without first round picks, even more so.
That said, the Rams do have a lot of young talent.
I do not expect a long downturn (given the injuries this year I don’t consider this year a disaster).
I think the coaching is still largely good and the FO has a plan.
It is possible for a long term downturn but I don’t expect it.
As someone who has missed a handful of games since the late 80s I will ride along either way.

I like the point of bringing on Gruden...I just assumed he would end up in LV next year with his brother.

I don’t think we suck, I don’t think we will anytime soon. But I’m so gun shy from Fisher refusing to bring in coaches that were actually qualified.

I think McVay needs to be able to focus. I think we need to get back to a 4-3 defense and we need someone to get our D creating turnovers. We have too many good players to play this bad. Baltimore is not 40 points better than us. It’s unpopular here but I just don’t believe in Goff. I’m upset over his contract. But he’s our guy. We gotta win with him now.

Here’s hoping to a positive offseason.

@den-the-coach that's a good post right there.

IMO the 3-4 is great ONLY if you have a premium LB corp. Otherwise you're right you can run at it successfully.

I think you need big fast guys to make it work well. Those types are not easy to find and having 2-3 of them is a tall task.

Honestly....as much as I hate to say it, this collapse has been one of the worst football experiences of my (long, long) time as a fan. It is just so deflating to see a team fall apart like this. The GSOT collapse was horrible, but this one feels even worse for some reason. I will not be watching this weekend. Maybe I will start to feel better about this team in the future, but my time is far better spent with my family and friends doing other things at this point. Please don't bother calling me a fair weather fan, etc....as I have been watching and rooting for this team for 40+ years. I really just have a bad feeling about the future of this team right now.....so I am taking a break. Man I hope they are just fucking with us and getting ready for a title run next year, lolz.
