I am telling you guys, it's not a slam dunk we take a QB in rd 1. McVay may be very content with Jimmy for a few yrs with a great running attack and dominant defense, while a 2nd or 3rd rd pick develops.

CB and OT might be our rd 1 selections.... or maybe even a stud center.
Rams fans, me included, have been dunking on Jimmy G for years for his inability to get it done in the big moments. I can’t imagine that Mcsnead would intentionally choose him to takeover a playoff and maybe SB ready team.

TIL that some consider themselves smarter than McSnead.

Actually I know some do it just always gets a laugh going.

Again, Jimmy is a UFA after the season and if the Rams had wanted to, they could have signed him to a multi year contract like other teams do with vet QBs
Takes two to agree to a deal. He wouldn't commit here of Stafford keeps playing and he certainly doesn't know what the Rams may do. So a 1 year deal made sense for him.

He is not a long term answer but he could be a Plan B bridge until next starter is in place. I don’t think they will reach or settle for QB in the draft next year but will have their 2 or 3 targets on their radar.

I’m not sure how Snead feels but I think McVay really likes Jimmy. The people in the media that are well sourced in the Rams building—Jordan Rodrigue, Peter Schrager, and Albert Breer—have all talked about how if Stafford or Rodgers weren’t available, McVay was 100% ok going into the season with Jimmy as the starter.

I tell you I’d love to see in a Rams uniform…Eagles backup QB Tanner McKee. This dude is a certified baller. Only problem is the Eagles are gonna command a hefty trade price for him because everyone in the league now knows this guy is a potential high quality starter.

But I still say the very first thing you do, even if there’s only a 1% chance it works, is try for Burrow. Hope for Cincy to implode on the field and organizationally over the next 1-2 years. Burrows people demand a trade, Bengals don’t wanna send him anywhere in the AFC, and we swoop in.

Right it takes two, starting with the Rams. They offered him 1 year.
End of story

Maybe Jimmy couldn't get it done under rat-boy, but under McVay, it could be different. I think it's clear that McVay is at another level in big games and closing out big games. I don't recall the Rams choking away double digit leads too often, especially not in big games.

Jimmy might be a stop gap QB if we can't draft a franchise QB next season.
