I would bet if you asked Gurley if he could play today the answer would be yes. It seems to me that McVay is having him sit today in an attempt to light a fire under his ass and get him back on track. Brown. Henderson, and Kelly are more than capable of doing what Gurley has done so far or more.

I’ve been saying it since week one something is wrong with Gurley .. I don’t know I’d its physical mental or emotionally he isn’t the same player and I’m not sure he ever will be (and I fucking hate saying it )

I feel his passion for the game is gone ..I was a very talented rugby player and possibly could have made it professionally but I mangaled my shoulder and was told I’d never make it pro I just kinda gave up signed for team ( that I was too good for ) and hated it I was too good to be playing at that level but injury prevented me playing at a higher level so I quit at the Ripe old age of 25

What’s thats little story gotta do with gurley .. he looks like I felt on the field ..he is there because he “has” to be

There’s no celebrations on touchdowns there’s no dropping the ball after the first down or a big run ..something Is fishy in Gurley land and I hate it

Well, I think this whole plan of "saving Gurley for the playoffs" is moot.

Time to saddle him up and ride him. We're not making the playoffs unless he breaks out and takes pressure off the OL by making some Gurley plays.

Then again, if the interior OL plays as poorly as they have been, Barry Sanders couldn't get any yardage...

It’s really only one more year; 2020

Would still stink to lose $25MM in 2020, but for all we know he’s playing. So, after next year it gets easy to get out.

I‘m still in the Gurley is fine Camp, however.

Does this mean that if they cut him after this year they lose 8.4MIL in cap space next year but after that are out of the woods?

Dead money is not fun either, but waiting a year longer means more pain if I am reading this chart correctly.

You three are ignoring the evidence.

Yeah the OL is playing subpar but Gurley hasn't played well behind a good OL dating back to late last year.

It has nothing to do with his mind, or McVay sitting him to light a fire under him, it has nothing to do with his emotions.

His knee is an issue.

Why are people ignoring what has widely been reported and what we see with our eyes?

Gurley's "issues" started with that Lion game when schematically our O was shut down.

Yeah, he had some issues with his knee, but the bigger issue was the scheme and play calling.

Gurley is a one cut and GO power runner. When was the last time he was schemed to do that?

I don’t think he’s done. I think what we’re seeing is a super talented running back that’s over the knee questions and isn’t getting enough reps to silence the pundits.

I’d agree if we were saying he’s frustrated. Maybe he isn’t too happy with the offensive game plan and lack of touches. Who knows.

Well here's the good news....there's no longer any need to "save" Gurley for the end of the season any longer. o_O

What most people seem to forget is Gurley has most likely had arthritis in his knee since he was drafted. He ran just fine in 2015, 2017 and most of 2018. He played poorly in 2016 and towards the end of 2018 with the exception of the dallas game, which coincedentally was the last time the OL played well. Why does everyone forget about 2016 and think that the OL poor play is a result of Gurleys knee? Watch Gurley when he has blocking and he looks fine. The biggest problems are the OL and the playcalling. Gurley cant look like Gurley if the team doesnt run the ball. The team cant establish the run if the OL cant block, some of this may be scheme. But it is very reminiscent of 2016, and until the O can establish some rythm with both run and pass the O will not look like it did in 2017 and early 2018. It has nothing to do with Gurley. After today I guess Brown and Henderson are washed up also, or hindered by injury. Because neither of them took over the game like we are used to Gurley doing, they must be damaged goods right?

I thought barring the fumble Henderson looked extremely promising .. brown did some good things .. the reason they didn’t take over a game like Gurley could is simply because they aren’t as good as Gurley .. that’s doesnt take away the fact Gurley isn’t the same player he was a couple years back

Maybe hes pissed because he knows the OL we have isnt gonna cut it and he's not saying anything? Kind of like in 2016 when he was acting bummed out and eventually called out the offense. I'm sure he knew that before the season started seeing them in practice. Todd is a competitive player that hates losing. With that said I don't think he's 100% but I don't think he's washed up or anything like that either. Mcvay has to get him more involved otherwise saving him for the playoffs was for nothing. But then again it all starts with the OL so we're back to square one.

I’ve been saying it since the end of last year and I’ll keep on saying it-Gurley has Ricky Williams syndrome. He just doesn’t have the passion to play anymore.

Whatever ails Gurley the Rams medical staff and coaching staff aren’t buying it. Especially after doling out that big contract. They obviously feel like whatever “issues” he has isn’t anything other football players don’t deal with and play through.

The medical and coaching staff don’t want to deal with these questions every week. If it was something preventing him from playing they would say it but haven’t. This “arthritis “ issue is just cover for Gurley. They obviously feel he can play by having him suit up but for whatever reason that spark is gone.

Hate to say it but Gurley has mentally checked out. Really sucks but in my mind there is no other logical explanation. You can tell McVay feels the same way.

Gurley still looks good at north and south runs where he can use his power.

But laterally, catching passes and such he really looks ineffective... His yards per reception has to be very low.

I'm not sure what to think anymore. I was 100% behind him , but something is starting to smell fishy.
His attitude has changed and it seems like he doesn't enjoy the game anymore. Too bad it was after he hamstrung the Rams with a huge contract . I hope I'm wrong but something is going on behind closed doors . Next man up

This may be nothing, but recall that Gurley was not voted as a team captain this season.
