the contract the colts gave luck will go down as one of the worst nfl contracts of all time.

2016 - was hurt all year and played as a shell of himself
2017 - didn't play at all
2018 - his only productive season
2019 - retired
2020 - assuming still retired

$75 million for one season of solid playing time. bargain.

I respectfully disagree with this perspective. I have been a member of this **Rams** board for several years. Why should I have to block anti Ram posters on this board? As I recall, one of the tenants of this board is that we don't trash our team or it's players. Even if he got he feelings hurt with the anti-cowgirl comment, he came here. This isn't a cowgirl board. There should be no latitude given in trashing our team, in my opinion, of course.

Im the one who started all of this with my response to his original post. I don't regret anything. In my view it was just some friendly trash talk between rival fans. He a good forum member even if a fan of another team. Trash talk is gonna happen a lot in that instant. Dont see why this has become a big deal. He used what he had and so did we. lets relax guys. Its not like a whiner fan came here trolling us about how much better Grabmypole is than Goff lol

I was looking on the Colts fan forum. It is disturbing if I say reading all the comments was kind of fun? :ROFLMAO: It's a train wreck over there

That was an expensive one year of production. Ironic how the old Bradford/Luck debates come full circle with both QBs not being able to stay healthy. Luck had some good years without much help. Really is too bad he couldn't go this year as they finally build a team around him. Both are set for many lifetimes with big money contracts.

I've never understood people who slam athletes that retire early.
He retired 5 months late. I totally get the sentiment of applauding him for mulling over the injuries, family life and making a life decision over football.

You can't do what he did when he did it. You've got to have some semblance of responsibility and doing the right thing at the right time when you decide to quit or step away from anything (unless he was recently told his shoulder would fall off if he took another hit).
Not quite the same analogy here due to age, but what if Whitworth retired today? "What a dick. Thanks Whit."

I've got no problem with a guy retiring at 24 or 30 or whatever age. This timing hung his team and teammates out to dry.

It's sort of like calling out sick 5 minutes before your shift.

He can retire and walk away any time he wants, just like the Colts could have cut him anytime they want.

The timing isn't great, but clearly he had been tossing it around for awhile and according to reports the Colts were aware that he was considering walking away.

I'm not "applauding" him. I just don't get why people are mad about the timing.

Would you be mad at a team that cut a player the week of his birthday? Or on his vacation?
