Did I really just read that the NFL recently made a statement that it would cost too much to replay the Game as if they even considered it??? Wow - Sure seems to me that the NFL has handled this whole situation totally wrong and that they are opening up a VERY LARGE CAN OF WORMS!!! Can’t the NFL just admit that it was a questionable call and move on? Somehow, I doubt that it is the first and only questionable call in an NFL Playoff Game and I doubt it will be the last one!

This is like the time we demanded to replay Super Bowl 36 at the point Brady had intentional grounding. Oh wait...

Its a court filing in response to a lawsuit two fans filed in Louisianna state court.

Ref from Rams-Saints controversy gets confronted by fans while officiating college basketball game
It's been a rough week for Bill Vinovich

by John Breech
The controversy from the NFC Championship Game doesn't look like it's going to go away anytime soon for referee Bill Vinovich.

Less than a week after serving as the lead official in the Rams-Saints game, Vinovich was back in stripes on Thursday to officiate a college basketball game between BYU and St. Mary's, and let's just say, the crowd in Provo, Utah, didn't give him a very warm welcome.

At one point, one student sitting in the front row at the Marriott Center confronted him and asked if Nickell Robey-Colman should have been called for pass interference.

The question from the student is believed to be the first time that Vinovich has publicly been asked about the play, which came near the end of the Rams' 26-23 win over the Saints in the NFC title game. With the win, the Rams advanced to Super Bowl LIII, which you can stream right here on CBSSports.com.

With 1:49 left to play in a 20-20 game and the Saints facing a third-and-10 from the Rams' 13-yard line, Drew Brees dropped back and threw a pass to TommyLee Lewis, who got destroyed by Robey-Coleman well before the ball arrived.

Vinovich was asked about the play by a pool reporter following the game, but at that point, he still hadn't seen a replay of the no-call.

"It was a judgment call by the covering official," Vinovich said following NFC Championship. "I personally have not seen the play."

At this point, it's probably safe to say that he has seen a replay, but he definitely didn't feel like sharing his thoughts about it with a bunch of college students who spent most of their night taunting him. Some students even made a sign asking Vinovich not to screw their team over.

According to a BYU radio host, Vinovich was not happy about the sign and he actually asked for it to be removed after the first media timeout of a game that BYU eventually won 71-66.

As for the controversial no-call, no one associated with the NFL really seems willing to talk about it. Although Saints coach Asshole Face said the league did admit to him that two penalties should have been called, the NFL still hasn't released a public statement.

The closest the league has come to publicly admitting that something went wrong on the play came Friday when Robey-Coleman was hit with a $26,000 fine for an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on Lewis.

With the league refusing to release a statement on the matter, that should make things interesting for next week, when Roger Goodell is scheduled to meet with the media for his annual Super Bowl week press conference (Jan. 30).

.

Folks. Right here is the reason the refs should be full time.

The man goes out and works a different sport. And of course other officials in the NFL have other jobs as well

This is nuts. The richest sport in the country and the officials can't work on their craft year round.

Make the refs full time.

It wouldn't solve all the ref issues but it surely would help.

I must shamefully confess, I've developed a new addiction. I go to that Saints forum EVERY DAY....It's just so damn fun to wash my ass in their tears...does this make me a bad person?
I hear you it is addicting. I go there as well. I don’t troll I just love to hear the nonstop whining and them wishing for the Patriots to blow the Rams out to reveal us as frauds. Lol. I just wanna scream your coach Blew it and our QB outplayed Brees in crunch time

Officiating was horrific. But favored the Saints overall. Do they not know this stuff's out there on video and stills? NO IDEA what they're crying about.

As the saying goes you can't have your cake and eat it too. Even if the officials lived here they would still stand a better chance of being fans of other teams. Remember we are the city that supports opposing teams as much as our own. We have only been back for 3 years and these refs most likely had allegiance to other teams or so is the narrative.....

ROFL!

It's a conspiracy! Executed so horribly that they gave the Saints the benefit of calls all game long until the very end when they screwed them. I seem to find a use for this pic a lot.

Do the ones that are concerned where a ref lives have a fucking clue.

You don't have to ref the game of the team where you reside. For example. A saints fan ref could be calling a game at the Panthers and affect the division standings.

A whole other can of worms.

Again. This shit should have been shut down by commish Monday. So so stupid. The PR department of the NFL dropped their football.

Pretty spoiled here went to Baby Kay's last night in Chandler,AZ and can never turn down the Crawfish etouffee. I intended to wear my vintage long sleeve Los Angeles Rams shirt from 1991, too. A little tight but worth it .

I’m kinda glad that this rhetoric continues - how motivated are our Rams going to be to silence the critics next Sunday. Can’t wait
