Man i hate the term "elevate".

How can a qb elevate a wr? That means he's making him better than he really is. Such baloney.

The wr has to get open and make the catch. That's his job. The qb can't do it for him. All he can do is put the ball in a position that the wr can catch it. That's it. That's not elevating him, that's putting him in a position to maximise his potential. It's all up to the wr if he does that or not.

Elevate him my arse.

Limited? One series ended because of his fumble, which happens to any QB in weather like that and then the fumble by Williams. That was two 2nd half possessions that ended quickly. In two other possessions he drove them down the field one for a TD and the other that ended the game. I believe there may have been one 3 & out, but that's it.

So I wouldn't say he struggled. He threw for well over 300 yards...he just didn't get as much support in the run game and they just don't have explosive players that can give you a 3 play TD drive. Yet, he made Demarcus Robinson look like a game breaker and dropped a dime to a covered Nacua that almost set up the win.
That fumble occurred on 3rd down & 10.

So basically, they had 3 drives where they had to punt in the second half (if not for the fumble). That's not good.

They had 1 FG drive in the second half and 3 punts (If you count the Stafford fumble as a sack and also not counting the drive ending due to the Williams fumble) before the 4 minute mark when he initiated comeback king mode.

That is slightly limited due to snow in my books.

Those last two drives were awesome though.

Totally agree. So overused and meaningless.

While I'm being a curmudgeon, I also hate the term "epic". Overused and doesn't even make sense 99% of the times I see it used. Do people even know the definition of the word??

Now get off my lawn!!!

They were playing the #1 defense, in the show, on the road, and he still threw for over 300 yards. Hard to point a finger at him.

He played well in the first half when there wasn't any snow. It was the second half he was slightly limited until the 4 minute mark where he got another 100 yards or so. He didn't have many yards in the second half to that point other than the one drive where they got a field goal.

And again, I stated "slightly" limited.

And this was really in response to the guy that stated that their offense was poor in the Eagles 49ers Jets games. I stated a lot of that had to do with the weather. I am not really putting down Stafford. I thought he played well for the most part in the Eagles game. And we were possibly one play away from winning that game.

I agree the term is overused, because it is rare but some QBs do elevate their targets.

Stafford for example. What he did with Kupp was make him completely unstoppable during our title run. And he did that by controlling defenders in their drops with his eyes, anticipating coverages and calls, etc. The no-look pass over the middle to Kupp during that last drive to win the Super Bowl was an incredible example of this.

He also has done it with our TEs since he came here, making two complete unknowns a part of big wins in the playoffs with key passes as well as making do with the steaming pile of shit he had to work with this past season.

I agree.

How does a QB elevate his receivers? By putting it where it’s supposed to be. By looking off would-be defenders, this giving the intended receiver a window to catch the ball. By not taking sacks when he has an open receiver. By not hanging his receiver out to dry over the middle.

You’re rarely going to have a receiver SO open that any ole QB can hit him with any regularity. A great receiver can make a QB look good at times but you really need a top QB these days. That means he really elevates the entire offense.

That's not elevating a wr, that's a qb doing his job. Every qb looks off dbs and lbers. The ones that don't are considered bad qbs that stare down their primary receiver.

It's more likely schemes elevate wrs and qbs than anything each group does for each other. Prime example, Jeff Fisher compared to Sean Mcvay.

Throwing a guy open is what the elite QB's do

“We’ve also decided not to trust the eye test anymore and stick to the numbers. You’re too slow, throw too many almost INT’s and can’t elevate your OL.”
