I don't see that as a benefit.
Rounding to the nearest Million, Kupp's 2025 cap hit is $30. That's a lot.
If they cut him, the Rams only save $7.5M. The remainder still hits the Rams' 2025 cap as Dead-$.
They could designate him a post-June 1 release and push some of the Dead-$ into 2026.
Personnaly, I would prefer to have Kupp, rather than No Cooper Kupp and an extra $7.5M.
Hell, they can cut Derion Kendrick and save $3.3M against the cap with minimal Dead-$.
I agree 100%.
I wasn't backing the idea of cutting Kupp.
Jonah Jackson, Parkinson and Kendrick would save about $10-11M, not that I would cut Jackson.
Anyway, it makes sense to keep Kupp to me.
Rams have some interesting decisions this offseason.
At WR, of last years guys, I think the Rams just have Kupp, Puka, Whittington and Xavier under contract, not counting PS guys.
Do they let both Robinson and Tutu walk (I believe so)?.....do they have someone on the PS they like?.....do they have some guys targeted in the draft?....Is there a FA target or two they like a lot? Id say likely yes to all of those.
Someone like Kendricks is interesting too.
Do they keep Witherspoon? How does that affect drafting a CB in round 1 or cutting/keeping someone like Kendricks?
How do they really project Forbes?
Interesting off season.
