AD now understands the value of having an elite HOF counterpart rusher next to him. He's never had that. T Lewis, Garrett, Hollins...those guys are just bodies. Just void fillers, just depth. They're not good players and they dont move the needle. AD needs elite talent around him to fully take advantage of the double and triple teams. That Super Bowl 2nd half performance was a thing of beauty from our DL. Von is a must sign 10000%. And OBJ too.
But its interesting that AD is already thinking this way. He achieved his ultimate dream and would be content retiring if we didn't sign Von or OBJ. That says a lot. It shows he really is on the verge of retirement and next year could be his last year. Hearing him talk like this I seriously think he only plays another 1-2 years.
Don't think AD is walking away from the $50+ million remaining on his contract. Too many future grandchildren and trust funds. After that it's a different story. AD will have to want to play. Rams would need to pay him, again, and still be a contender.
Stafford by the way is in the same boat. He's made an enormous amount of money already. He will get even more, but he will only play as long as he wants to and the team is winning.
The good news is that there is a straight line path to make this happen, starting with bringing back Miller and OBJ and extending Stafford. All these guys want to be paid, but just as much or more so want to have a chance to win it all and have fun on the way. The Rams' organization from Kroenke to Demoff to Snead and most of all McVay are all well aware of this.
Both the players and management clearly see that they can and will keep winning with these guys. That's why they're speaking out. AD needs Miller, Stafford needs OBJ, and vice versa. They all want to make it happen and roll with it. Kroenke wants just as much to cement his mega billion investment in the Rams and SoFI. Paying the players is peanuts compared with the success of the franchise in LA.
That's why this is the future of the Rams right now.
Imo Rams will then have a three, maybe four year window for more Super Bowl rings.
