I can look at this statement in several ways.
WR - A healthy healed OBJ vs. what we saw from Van Jefferson & Ben Skowronek being on the field is one serious difference.
There is also the question of just how well the ACL surgery on Robert Woods now over 30 will perform on the field. So there is merit in AD's concern in this WR cadre position.
I am also sure AD knows that OLB Terrell Lewis offers up zero dependability & Justin Hollins sure did very little in the latter half of this 22 gms season. The only real relief @ OLB'er is no longer under Ram contract.
Aaron Donald doubles down on Rams' return, will hold off retirement if franchise meets these two conditions
Donald will return to the Rams in 2022 on these conditionswww.cbssports.com
I know it's blue font but you are EXACTLY correct! I think over the last 6 years ownership has gone above and beyond to get creative and bring on premiere talent. Now, I'm not sure when or the context of this this quote ... but if he was 100% serious, then sure, restructure to help make it a reality.AD going to take a discount to help out!
AD now understands the value of having an elite HOF counterpart rusher next to him. He's never had that. T Lewis, Garrett, Hollins...those guys are just bodies. Just void fillers, just depth. They're not good players and they dont move the needle. AD needs elite talent around him to fully take advantage of the double and triple teams. That Super Bowl 2nd half performance was a thing of beauty from our DL. Von is a must sign 10000%. And OBJ too.I'll look at it more in terms of a glass half full scenario.
Lewis will be well rested, Garrett will have another year of development, and Hollins will likely see more time rotating at OLB than working inside for 2022. Still, Von Miller is a must re-sign, he heads that list imo. I also believe that the Rams will invest in another veteran WR as they did last season when going after DeSean Jackson while we have the same trio of Kupp, Woods & Jefferson as we did then, and I have no reason to believe that OBj won't be ready for the play-offs.
jmo.

But its interesting that AD is already thinking this way. He achieved his ultimate dream and would be content retiring if we didn't sign Von or OBJ. That says a lot. It shows he really is on the verge of retirement and next year could be his last year. Hearing him talk like this I seriously think he only plays another 1-2 years.
There have been stories that Von may go back to Denver. Why would he go back to Denver after they traded him? Basically they cut him loose. Not impossible, and no no one can speak for Von, but most players in this situation would feel that they had been slighted. And Von seems pretty happy in LA with AD and company and a ring.

Can't say as I blame him - but, WOW!
Apparently, as is reported here, AD says he retires if Von Miller and OBJ are not re-signed.
Aaron Donald Says He'll Play in 2022 If
"If we bring everybody back, I’m back," Donald told TMZ.com (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk). "Odell Beckham, Von Miller, we bring them guys back, let’s make it happen."
There have been stories that Von may go back to Denver.
He really liked it there and understood why Denver traded him.
Plus it gave him a chance to be with a competitive team that eventually won the superbowl.
But he has also stated he likes LA so there is that too.
That Denver defense has a good chance of not being the same scheme that Miller is so comfortable in playing in the last few years...There have been stories that Von may go back to Denver.
