This is a deep dive into Aaron's mindset. Unfortunately, he is considering retirement for family reasons but is pivoting to playing on. This makes the news that he is in discussions on a new long-term contract particularly interesting...

For example, it could signal a long-term commitment to LA or it might be a way for LA to receive higher draft capital if we were t we could trade him to Pittsburgh (for example) following this season.

This is a great read, if worrying, read

The fact that it's AD whose work ethic is beyond reproach keeps me from worrying about him reading his press clippings. But that aside in the next few years I think he will be moved into a rush specialist role to keep him around as long as possible.

So in all that comes that business conversation where you talk about moving him if he needs to be most paid every season. It is a real element here. He is a guy I want to see finish in horns but there is room for his head to get too big and price himself out of town. Even him. Hope things don't get to that point.

Hard as it may be to keep everyone, Donald doesn't want to see the Rams getting dismantled to the point where he has to deal with more doubles-triples than was allowed with Von on the other side. Another FA doesn't guarantee to have close to what Von brought.

AD could move he and his family to LA and then move back to Pittsburgh once he retires in a few years. I believe he’s overthinking this.

May not be that simple.

From the story, it sounds like Aaron's two older children are from a prior relationship; and that they live in Pittsburgh with their mother. Aaron lives in L.A. with his wife and youngest child.

Ah, I didn’t read it. Figured I’d save it for later. I had no idea that he had kids with another woman.

He should ask Kroenke to move them to LA also and give that ex a job. Problem solved.

Perhaps AD could make the ‘Pittsburgh mother’ an irresistible offer to move out here?

Problem would be solved.

OK. Unfortunately ... and again ... it may not be that simple. Maybe that woman is currently in a relationship. Maybe Donald's current significant-other would have an issue with it.

See, you're a problem-solver but I am a problem-creator!

Kind of wild to me that what this boils down to is that he's considering retirement because he isn't with the woman that he had his first two kids with.

.

all he needs is money.

that's what all players need.

He's made so much money that it doesn't matter anymore. He has to focus on the things that are a real priority to him. Family concerns can easily override money making. This is the same point (from a different angle) people were trying to make in the Show them the money thread.
