remember, the commentary is from some nimrod that works for rotoworld. their takes on everything nfl are only for comedic value. i'm not even sure they watch any games. they certainly have no knowledge of the contract talks. they only look at tweets then make shit up.

Heisenberg, you nailed it. Not doing TC or pre-season is a big part of it. I don't expect anything until the start of the season. Same as last season.

Correct, I was thinking the same thing.

But what's not free market capitalism is the salary cap, which of course is imposed in an attempt to limit a team with more capital from dominating the market through that advantage as an attempt at parity, which in turn is supposed to market the product appeal as more equitable to all cities/fans involved.

Yeah, skipping camp is a part of it. Not because he doesn't want to go through the nuances of camp workouts though. He's protecting himself in case of injury. Now the question remains, how committed is he to this holdout? I gotta think its killing him not being with his teammates. But if he continues this holdout during the season, I also gotta think its more about him than his teammates. We'll just have to wait and see when the time comes.

The way Donald keeps himself in shape, and some of the workouts that have been posted on line, I think he wants to skip training camp because its not a tough enough workout...

Can't disagree with anything above. I prefer we get him signed because now that the possibility is looking more realistic that they might trade him, the thought of watching him do his thing elsewhere is too painful for me to contemplate. When it comes down to it, I'm just blindly hoping in true fan form that it gets done because I have 3 AD jerseys now and he's been one of my favorite players since his first season.

But you are right they should take a look at the trade market if the two sides are far enough apart. This is a business and AD is undoubtedly going to draw multiple picks. I've waivered on this more than once here. But yes the front office needs to consider what they'd get in return and go from there. Only problem is I have to think that chances of getting a Hall of Fame player are very low even with, say, two first round picks.

If we were to look at this thing from a 100% business point of view, the way for the Rams to play it is obviously to let their leverage erode his stance. Which is what they're doing. It's just painful as F to watch play out in real time.

Aaron Donald has 39 sacks through 4 NFL seasons! That is insane! He's only 12 sacks behind Suh and with 3-4 less years in the league.

Thats what I'm thinking. Look what happened to Easley. Your chances of injury are higher in practice than your own gym. He's just protecting himself. At least that is what I want to believe. I want to believe he'll be back in time for the season and either take the deal or play under the current one and try it again next season.
 
I don't understand Donald not reporting today.

I mean, I'm happy - it means even more control for the Rams. And as Legatron said, maybe it means he wants to be here.

Schefter said we would franchise him anyway next year - I disagree. I say let him go to a team and sign a contract with them, then we match it. Because I'd be willing to be no team is going to pay him whatever his agents are asking. And if they do it's probably the Browns, which would be throwing us a high first round pick.

I'm getting to that point myself but, somewhat selfishly, I really hope he's back by the Cards game at home. I'm travelling a long way to see my Rams play for the 1st time. Would really like to see AD shredding the Cards O Line in person.
