This pisses me off.
The Rams already offered to make AD the highest paid defender in the NFL. They STARTED there.
What Schefter is leaving out (and I think this is because you can tell he talked with AD's reps on this) is that AD and his reps want QB money...which is retarded...as in slow. The alternative is to believe that AD's reps are behaving in a criminal fashion against AD's interests.
Correct, I was thinking the same thing. The fire department is socialistic.
One persons desires to be richer than everyone else to the point that if could end up screwing over a bunch of hardworking people (teammates) from being able to get paid what they deserve and crippling the economy (the teams salary cap)
This sounds more like good old free market capitalism to me.
Heisenberg, you nailed it. Not doing TC or pre-season is a big part of it. I don't expect anything until the start of the season. Same as last season.
We don't know that. We don't know what numbers were actually discussed. The Rams already offered to make AD the highest paid defender in the NFL. They STARTED there.
The way Donald keeps himself in shape, and some of the workouts that have been posted on line, I think he wants to skip training camp because its not a tough enough workout...Yeah, skipping camp is a part of it. Not because he doesn't want to go through the nuances of camp workouts though. He's protecting himself in case of injury. Now the question remains, how committed is he to this holdout? I gotta think its killing him not being with his teammates. But if he continues this holdout during the season, I also gotta think its more about him than his teammates. We'll just have to wait and see when the time comes.
We'll know if its about the money when the season starts. At this point, I could care less if he shows up or not.
Team player knows he cant help the team if he's hurtYup Deiter, plus he doesn't want some camp body rolling up on one of his legs.

As a fan, I'm willing the Rams spend a bit more than actually makes sense for productivity, given that this is a salary cap league that for decades has gradually been altering rules to favor the passing attack. But I have a hard time believing that the holdout is good for the team and that giving in and wildly overpaying would be good for future negotiations.
At some point, if he's not willing to play, the Rams need to at least see if some team is willing to overpay to get Donald. If there isn't a good partner, make him sit. If there is a good partner - get good value and move on. Remember that the value in trading him isn't just the players and picks in return - but also the $20 million plus to keep other players who WILL be gone otherwise.

We would have heard something by now. He ain't signing today.6 hours, 25 minutes to sign Donald. Tick tock.
I'm getting to that point myself but, somewhat selfishly, I really hope he's back by the Cards game at home. I'm travelling a long way to see my Rams play for the 1st time. Would really like to see AD shredding the Cards O Line in person. We'll know if its about the money when the season starts. At this point, I could care less if he shows up or not.
