"Aaron Donald is scheduled to earn $6.9 million this season and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year is none too happy about it. Rich Graessle/Icon Sportswire"

Ok, this is just speculation unless the author has a quote or a verified source, neither of which is provided. I also am getting tired of the "Super Bowl or Bust" storyline that everyone is running with...Yes, Suh is on a one year deal, but he can be replaced with a 1st or 2nd round rookie next year. Talib could also get an extension, with Peters probably the focus for a big deal. It seems to me with the Woods, Cooks,Gurley and hopefully the Donald deals, they are getting the cap hit up front so that when Goff's deal comes, the big money will be somewhat out of the way for Goff's deal. I'm no football genius, but even I can see this. Why can't the guys who get paid for analysis quit with the win now, or it's all over, commentary? It seems to me that the Ram's Front Office is the most forward thinking in the NFL.

Never thought it was Super Bowl or Bust. It's very interesting to see what players the Rams can keep. Very encouraging getting extensions for Cooks and Gurley for the Rams to keep it going for a long time. They have the skill offensive players signed for a while. Gurley, Cooks, Woods, Kupp, Everett and the rest of the young pass catchers with Goff surely getting a long extension down the road. They need to keep developing offensive lineman and got a good start with this years draft.

The defense will have Donald for a few years one way or another. Peters gets extended next year while Talib could get an extra year after next year. Joyner will need to be replaced but, NRC and JJ are still around for a couple more. Rams have a young corp of Lbers and are developing some defensive lineman. The future defense will have a corp to work with but will need some help to maintain a high level.

What a stupid take, "Super Bowl or Bust". Isn't that what all the rest of NFL teams are thinking?

Maybe this would be a good time for some big money LA buisness owner to swoop in and offer AD a really really lucrative enorsement deal contingent on him inking a long term deal.

Yeah, but what is the take if the Rams don't win the Super Bowl if not a bust? Maybe, Super or let's get'em next year?

I'm very hyped up for this season, so I'm going on the super bowl or bust train. Rams will do it
This Rams team is going to be AWESOME!

I'll add that nobody here seems to be trying to make AD into a villain. Most of us are simply exploring the possibility that his representation is asking for too much. Big difference. And at this point it looks like there's a good chance that's where things are.
No difference. You are assuming its his fault.
And yet nobody knows the facts.

I saw that tweet - odd that this all leaked to this free lance source and no one else. I'm grain of salting it.

Same take here. But if it's true then this is going to lead to three years of Leveon-franchise-tag-drama. Guess there are worse things.

Seems legit, surely has better sources than Schefter, Hammond etc...

Dubious. There is nothing confirming this at @RamsNFL like he said. Eric Geller is the source.

Never heard of this clown claiming AD is pissed haha seems he covers the Dodgers but don't think I've ever read anything on them from him either. Nothing to see here move along.

Here's my thing, if that is the case then either AD has no back bone and needs to tell his agent to kindly stfu and get out of the way....OR....AD is fully on board with it all....OR....a deal has been made but everyone is tight lipped about it for some various reason or another. 2/3 possibilities look bad for AD. Then again, just my opinion man.

Here is how this went down last year (and usually goes): "We are happy to continue negotiating an extension. In the meantime, Aaron will report to camp tomorrow if you agree to waive all fines for missing camp."

How would you answer that if you were the Rams?
His options are more limited this time. If after Aug 7 then they may very well use whatever muscle they have available.

Ultimately, you want both sides happy. But also ultimately, both sides will need to use their strongest position. And “sign and we’ll waive the fines” may be part of that position.

Amount offered by Rams leaked:

Just got confirmation. SOURCES: L.A. @RamsNFL offering @AaronDonald97 4 yr. $21M per making AD highest paid D player in NFL history. AD’s agent “insulted” by offer. He’s looking for north of $25M per for AD which is QB $$. Not going to happen, nor should it. #MobSquad #SignAD99

Funny just yesterday ESPN ran a story saying that Donald might be asking for top type QB money of 25mil or more and a day later this said he's leaking that Donald is asking for North of 25mil. Coincidence? I think not.

Even if he's right, it's all posturing. Donald isn't going to get $25 million per year. IMO, him and Khalil Mack are playing chicken. Once one signs, the other domino will fall. I expect Donald ends up with $21.5 million per year (give or take $0.5 million).

It's easy for agents to manipulate their clients into holding out for more money, especially when he can keep telling Donald that Mack is going to get $25M a year.
