Robinson depending on how much LBs he has lost might be better suited for the 5 tech post than the NT which could let Brockers provide a good reliever to the 3 tech AD post on run downs. Rams demoted DL'er Eric Banks to the Practice Squad. So he is not contributing @ this time.

NT Gaines appears to be slowly improving his NT performance. So between GG & SJD the NT post is in good condition. Both are in full health.

Keeping AD fresh & powered up on the special pass rushing downs would be good thing for the final 2020 quarter season & into the playoffs.

Bottom line Staley only has five DL'ers currently active.

I remember my son was disappointed when we drafted him... He thought a 6ft DT named "Donald" from Pitt... How good could he be?

Then we pulled up a YouTube highlight video. It was a full 10 minutes of destruction.

Then he was sold.

Of course I also expected Robinson to be a stud.

He says Eller was more disruptive. IDK about that, hard to imagine. He was before my time.
I vaguely remember him. He played LDE (from defensive POV)., but he enjoyed the same advantages that Deacon had as far as the rules go. I watched a couple of hilight videos which I assume shows his best plays and they are good. He's deservedly in the HOF. But seriously, AD's hilights are much more impressive in my opinion. Much of his career, like Deacon's, was before they recorded sacks as a statistic is estimated to be 130 sacks according to the Vikings website, but that was over a 16 year career.

Aaron Donald has 79.5 career sacks into his 7th year with 11 games to go. AD is doing it against mostly Offensive linemen. Carl Eller got his sacks against slow RT's, TE's and RB's.

AD is better.

Eller was an all pro DL but he was only the second best DL on the Vikings during his time. The Best DL player honor belonged to Alan Page.

No question. Alan Page was absolutely great and belongs in any discussion of the greatest defensive lineman of all time. To me, he was an iconic figure like Deacon Jones or Jim Brown or Bill Russell. After he retired Page went on to become a justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court.

The Vikings D -line at that (end of 60s into 70s) was one of the best ever. Maybe the best ever. (Don't shoot me, I loved the Fearsome Foursome too! They were just a few years ahead of Page and company.)
