Yeas there would be a huge difference. Kyren is nice, great feel for the game and a patient runner.
But when is the last time we have seen a run or short pass to KW and he is GONE .... Touchdown ?
We don't see that with Kyren.
How many break away runs did Saquon have last year with the Giants?

Yards per carry (YPC) reflect the type of break away runs that you're talking about. Last year with a healthy and good OL, Kyren was second after McCaffrey at 5.0 YPC. Saquon had 3.9 YPC.

Last year, the Giants OL was ranked 30th in run blocking. This year, the Eagles OL is ranked 6th in run blocking and Saquon's YPC has increased to 5.8. Same RB, drastic difference!

The OL is the difference.

No, I am not talking about yards per carry.
KW simply does not have the breakaway speed and power to have LONG TD runs that put fear into NFL defenses.
He gets his YPC up because he has lots of runs that gain a decent amount of yardage.
He and Corum do not have break away speed and we could use a RB and a big WR that runs a 4.3.
Kyren is "nice" and I am glad he is a Rams and all but we could use a deep threat at RB and WR.

You may be right that a RB with breakaway speed versus KW would make a bigger difference than I'm thinking. We do agree though that we could use a deep threat. My feeling is just that it would be most effective at WR.

The best our offense has ever been is with a healthy Todd Gurely. I think Philly paid like 12mil a year. Way more efficent than 20mil+ for a WR. We should get that kid from Idaho.

Yeah, I didn’t get that market explosion for WR pay that happened this offseason. Those contracts are gonna be an anchor on team plans, especially in Dallas and SF.

I’m with you, I’d rather risk the $$ on a RB. It’s still a position that can dominate a game.

I did say with the Oline healthy. Anyway, adding a break away threat from the back field or the WR position would be great. Lets not spend our money on a FA Wr though.
I think a good x reciver is needed to take offense where it needs to go

Do you feel this way about free agency in general or just the WR position?
Just the wr position. Of course it is more a rule of thumb. Not hard and fast. If we suck at drafting that wr or injury hits and we are close to making a run. Things like that. There are just to many really good receivers coming out of college.

Well...I get it. But the Rams haven't been able to adequately fill that X position with the draft for 8 years now.

Aston Jenty from boise state. I would give up a lot to draft him. He is a tackle breaking machine with speed. He would change everything.

True, but other than the reach for TuTu have they really tried. I would say no.

2nd round pick Van Jefferson and then Tutu. That's two premium picks with no success. The draft is not a surefire way to fill an acute WR need. Do you know the bust rate on WRs? It's high.

Not if Stafford only has his eyes on Kupp.
Does Stafford sometimes lock in on a WR? Yes. But he has the ability to look elsewhere and spread the ball around. The key is, the target needs to be reliable and work hard to gain his trust.

Puka had Stafford's trust on Day 1 last year.

Problem is, almost every playmaker in college is a tackle breaking machine w/ speed. That usually changes once they get to the pros where there's speed everywhere and tackling is a whole helluva lot better.

You really think we're going to put more draft capital in RB's? I don't think so.

With Kyren Williams under contract for another year in 2025; and Corum under contract for three more years after the Rams used their 3rd round pick on him this past April ... plus the Rams not having their 2nd round pick in 2025, you want them to draft a running back?

Jefferson was not a take the top off wr. Like all our WRs he could get open deep, but he wasn't drafted to take the top off.
