Could have had a TD if not for a non called PI.

the pass wasn't out far enough in front of the wr and gave the db the chance to bat it away. it's only preseason and they have another month to work on their chemistry.

man i hope the rams can hit the ground running once week 1 arrives.

Wouldn't shock me if we had some rust the first qtr or half. But I see no reason we can't win week 1 fairly easily.

Go Rams!

I wasn't speaking for you, I was speaking of your condition.

.

Let me clarify. You don't speak for me, about me, of me, or anything of the like. You don't know jack about me.

And next time, address me directly instead of some snarky ass remark to someone else as a shot towards me.

Or better yet. Why don't you go ahead and ignore me? I might do so as well (in this case again) so we both don't have to deal.

He did well against a vanilla defense. He was accurate with short throws and a few medium length ones, but, most (if not all) were his first read and he didn't disguise where the ball was going. They tried to run the ball which will only help him during the year and he himelf tucked the ball and ran a couple of times. I'm sure the Lions were running a vanilla offensive scheme, but the true test will be when defensive coaches try to shake him in real games....
Preseason is about shaking off the rust. I would expect him to go to the first read against a vanilla defense. You should know where you're going with the ball if they're not disguising.

Sewell didn't have a great game but it was his first NFL action.
Sewell had a bad first series ( 3 and out) but understandably it was not only his first NFL series but his first live football action in over a year and half as he opted out. After that he looked dominant in pass protection to me. He has a BRIGHT future

that's ok man, i don't take things to heart.

i just found it weird that out of all the games to hold a grudge against goff you chose that one, where every single player on the team was fucking awful. that's all.

I watched a couple updated Detroit local fan podcasts/videos last night. Goff is getting beat up by all the local beat writers for checking down too much.

I'd provide a link but last time i did that folks got sensitive and thread got locked. So if you're interested in a fresh perspective of Goff by folks with no axe to grind go look for it. It's out there. Youtube.

I'm watching Cards & Cowboys right now.

Yeah, Campbell got onto him for it. The last practice report I read from a couple days ago said he finally started to uncork the deep ball and hit on a number of them during that practice.

EDIT: Here it is:
Jared Goff’s deep ball has been heating up in recent days. He uncorked a 60-yard bomb to Tyrell Williams during team drills on Monday -- by far his longest throw of camp -- then was effective once again during one-on-ones a day later. He aired one out to Tom Kennedy, then put some air under a gem that Chad Hansen ran under for a long gain near the goal line. Alijiah Holder’s coverage was pretty good too, but Goff put it where it had to go. Holder was beat on both bombs, actually, though later made up for it by sacking Tim Boyle on a fourth-down blitz during 2-minute drills.

I already explained it in my response to Loyal. Thats the game I was done with him and I personally don't care about how anyone else did.

Your indirect comment was not needed. And then this discussion wouldn't exist.

Yes. It wasn't anything personal. And it was after that discussion we had about refs. I was going against the grain that ref blaming is a lazy excuse and that teams need to overcome. We had along argument on one of Ron Gronkowskis plays and it got heated, and I wasn't appreciative of how your vibe was to me. So I ignored, along with a few other ppl. I recently took everyone off it.

If you don't like my posts or views fine, I know I'm not the most well liked perso. But I will not stand for snark. Period.

I don't mind you posting negative links but let's post the positive ones too.

Both are out there.

Yeah I remember Stephen Jackson not getting any plays in the preseason and the first game - boom Stephen Jackson gets injured on his 3rd run play and was out for almost half the season I think.

I just feel you should play a series or two as warmup to the real games. Get some real hits in.

They were middle of the road, i may have stretched stout. They were ranked 14th, far from “poo poo” lol
I watched every Bills game last year and except for a couple games (Tennessee Arizona and KC) they had a very good defense.

The reason their stats are not that high is that Josh Allen was awesome and Buffalo had a big lead in the second half in a lot of their games and their defense started letting up.

Even the Arizona game they were playing well until they got a two TD lead in the second half and they really let up and let Arizona back in the game.

There are tradeoffs with McVay's philosophy of not playing starters in preseason.

I'm a bit concerned that getting off to a fast start may be a challenge this year. We have a lot of new players and coaches. More concerned about the D because of the new coordinator and because the D really has to be on the same page to prevent big plays.

Hopefully we have the talent and preparation to make up for any lack of participation in preseason games.

Just saw his 20 yard completion to Tyrell Williams. Y'all told me he went to his first read on every throw. He definitely started right and progressed all the way across the field to hit Williams on the far left on this throw. C'mon, fellas! ;)

Detroit is a work in progress. But I think a fair assessment is that Goff looked good considering it's the first game and some key receivers and the best RB weren't on the field. He's going to enjoy playing behind a pro bowl center and a potentially strong line.

If the offensive line and running game get going the Lions offense could be better than people may think.

There was no preseason last year, and it all worked out for every team. Preseason is not worth much.

The Lion's best receiver is TE Hockenson and he didn't play. Their primary RB Swift didn't play as well. Other than that Ah-mon is their possession receiver. The OL looks like it might be decent but Goff has really very few weapons this year. He can't throw deep because there isn't anyone open deep.

It's the defense that really needs to come together. They have a whole lot of young guys and new guys so it's going to take a while for that side of the ball to get going if it ever does this year.

With their 4 1st round draft picks the next two years, Holmes should be able to turn the team around quickly. WR, RB, CB and edge would be my guess, and build around that with the other picks. They could make some noise next year if the young guys and defense can step up. Holmes has Snead's blueprint and understanding of analytics which he clearly used this year. in 3 years they could be a pretty good team.

That second drive wasn't bad. He also escaped the pocket to keep the play alive and get the penalty. He just has to keep those turnover type throws down.

Yeah I was hoping that if the Rams kept Goff that

1) They get a better center - possible check
2) They get speed at WR - check
3) He would start to make better decisions

Well now he is in Detroit and well .... ick

They do not have any WR that can beat anyone deep. All of them were covered when they went deep yesterday. Not one open WR on any of the pass plays. They do look like they have a good offensive line though.

Well Goff will have to continue throwing his very good 10 to 20 yard passes on a consistent basis with that team.

Enough to win - probably not

I see a 5 11 season for Detroit at best
