These refs are morons. The ball catcher has to survive the ground, even when going out of bounds. Bad call by the refs, but I'll take it.

20-6 at halftime? Rams have the 9ers right where they want them lol.

Not true, that only applies if he were going to the ground in the process of making the catch (being tackled or otherwise). They ruled he had it before the hit knocking him out of bounds. If anything they may rule it a fumble

I can't believe what i heard from the booth. Did these guys even know the rules?

Surviving the ground had nothing to do with that catch. Thomas wasn't falling to the ground. He was tackled.

The point of contention is did he turn into a runner by the time he was tackled.

It was moving prior to the hit tho. That's what I don't understand.

They ruled that he completed the catch before the hit, so no, he doesn't have to survive the ground.

Exactly... The catch discussion is so painful because of how many people spew inaccurate statements.

Screw that, beating the Whiners is always meaningful. Sit starters I'm fine with but still go for it. Eh whatever, it's not like Ficken getting a token FG from the 1 is going to help him hehe.

It will help him. With every make, he believes that he can do it. I don't care about the 49ers. I care about playoff wins.

I like the fact that Ficken is getting some game situation kicks. If nothing else this game it is building his confidence

I never called it intentional. I called it illegal and stupid. It's absolutely 100% illegal. It's my opinion doing something illegal is stupid when you know the rules.
The hit on Goodwin? It wasn't illegal or stupid. Countess won't be fined after they watch the replay, they'll see that Goodwin ducked into the hit.

That's not really fair. It's painful because the rule is nonsensical and needs to be changed. That's what causes the confusion.

Well I was sure the Steelers scored that TD against the Patriots too so what do I know. Nothing, apparently.

Wait so it's legal to lead with your shoulder or helmet to the head of another player? When did they change that rule?

Wasn't moving, he had control with two feet down prior to being hit and losing it. He wasn't going to the ground until after the hit, after possession had been deemed good.

Suspension-worthy hit from Blake Countess knocks out Marquise Goodwin

The Rams are in the playoffs next weekend, but cornerback Blake Countess might not be there with them.

Countess delivered a vicious hit to the head of 49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin, drawing a penalty flag and knocking Goodwin out of the game. Goodwin, who has a history of concussions, was carted off the field.

The hit was absolutely worthy of a suspension, and it won’t be at all surprising if Countess isn’t allowed to play next week. NFL suspensions are never easy to predict, but players have been suspended for less.

Countess is a backup who has played in all 16 regular-season games for the Rams this season. He may not play in the playoffs. And Goodwin’s season is certainly over, and given his history of concussions, he may have to think long and hard about his playing future this offseason.
