1. You cannot run on the Niners. Period. Don’t beat your head against the wall. Mcvay gets this. Some of you need to accept it.

2. You can beat the Niners in the pass game. They have some weaknesses in coverage but you need time to throw.

I tend to see this as the recipe. Roll Stafford out, too. We will need to pass it.

I‘d like to go watch the Cards wk8, Seahawks wk12… 49’ers lost to them.

Don't leave Weddle deep in coverage. Nightmares from that comeback game.

I see no problem with featuring the pass but you have to run even if its not productive. The first half the offense was balanced and even though it wasn't productive we had a 17-0 lead. I truly believe Akers will be the key in this game. We just can't turn the ball over. McVay/Morris can't play scared, they must be aggressive in their play calling. I sure hope E Jones can play because it would be a tremendous boost for the D.

Jones has been missing since Von and the pass rush has become MUCH more effective.
Before Jones took over in the middle, the lack of quality coverage from the ILB position was an easily exploited weakness, espescially for teams like the 9ers.
Once EJ got the snaps and became comfortable, his range, athleticism and instincts made a huge difference and turned a weakness into a strength. Travin Howard has helped with his range and the pass rush has helped to mask some of Reeders issues.
IF Ernest Jones can return and play at the level he was before his injury, together with the stabilized secondary and the historically effective pass rush we've seen this post-season?
Game, set, match.

Yeah a healthy Jones paired with an emerging Howard added to this fierce pass rush would be something to see. I'm so excited to see Sunday's game

Just do the same thing that was done in th first half of week 18.

I don’t think they intentionally let the 9ers win but they definitely relaxed in the second half.

That is not happening in this game.

Hey Baldy! Against that group of safeties and that best LB group and that vaunted DL in 2 regular season losses Kupp had 18 catches for 229 yards and a TD. Over that in both games just an FYI guy.

If McVay out-coaches Shanahan, the Rams will be in the Super Bowl.

At the end of Stafford's presser that Detroit dude asking him why he never won a playoff game in Detroit. As we all know it's a valid but also complicated question so I mean c'mon dude. Team's prepping for what will be the next biggest game of his career and you want to go back to busting his balls like when the trade just happened? Take your sour fuckin grapes outta here.

First Look: Rams face off against divisional rival 49ers in NFC Championship

The No. 4-seed Rams are back home to take on the No. 6-seed 49ers in the NFC Championship, with the winner advancing to face the winner of Bengals-Chiefs in Super Bowl LVI. Kickoff from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. pacific time on FOX.

In advance of the contest, here is your First Look at Rams-49ers, presented by Audi.

Notable 49ers additions

Selected RB Elijah Mitchell in the sixth round in this year's NFL Draft: San Francisco's leading rusher set a franchise rookie record with a team-high 878 rushing yards in 10 games this season, also rushing for five touchdowns.

Re-signed LT Trent Williams to a 6-year deal on March 23: Arguably the most important piece to the 49ers' offensive line, Williams was brought back on a lucrative deal to anchor the left side of it. His performance during the regular season earned him AP First Team All-Pro recognition.

Top performers in Divisional Round

QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 11 of 19 pass attempts for 131 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in San Francisco's 13-10 win at Green Bay.

Mitchell led the backfield with 17 carries for 53 yards, while WR Deebo Samuel added 10 carries for 39 yards.

TE George Kittle was Garoppolo's top target, hauling in four receptions for 63 yards. Samuel wasn't far behind with three catches for 44 yards.

The 49ers defense held Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to 225 passing yards and zero touchdown passes while sacking Rodgers five times; DL Arik Armstead and DL Nick Bosa led the way with two each.

On special teams, K Robbie Gould drilled both of his field goal attempts, including the 45-yard game-winner as time expired, plus his lone extra point attempt. P Mitch Wishnowsky averaged 52 yards per punt across five punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

The 49ers head into the NFC Championship game with Williams banged up and his status for Sunday uncertain.

Williams sustained an ankle injury against the Packers, and while his X-rays came back negative, he will be monitored throughout the week. Samuel is sore but OK and expected to practice this week.

Williams also missed the last meeting between the Rams and the 49ers in Week 18 with an elbow injury, and while San Francisco adjusted, his potential absence cannot be ignored, given that he's one of the best blindside protectors in the NFL.

Taking advantage of that potential advance and getting pressure on the quarterback won't be enough for the Rams alone, though.

According to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, Garoppolo had an average time to throw of 2.41 seconds in Week 18. While he threw a pair of interceptions, he was still getting the ball out quickly and putting the 49ers' skill players in position to make plays by completing 23 of 32 pass attempts.

It's well-known how effective Kittle and Samuel are after the catch, so it will be important for the second and third levels of the Rams defense to tackle well. And if linebacker Ernest Jones can return this week, it would make a big difference there.

One of my biggest fears in this game is regarding our secondary. If you watch the last Niners game they targeted Long in critical moments with Aiyuk. Long was no where near even competing on those plays. Now with an older, slower Weddle you have to wonder if the Niners don’t have success in the pass game.

Al things equal our weakness in the slot may be the difference in this game.

Opposing View: 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan says Rams pass rush is "as good as it gets also"

The way these games have played out during the regular season, the battle in the trenches usually dictates the outcome.

Both the 49ers and the Rams bring two of the best into Sunday's NFC Championship game at SoFi Stadium (3:30 p.m. pacific time, FOX), with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan telling San Francisco reporters the Rams pass rush is "as good as it gets also."

"The individuals that they have especially," Shanahan said. "It all starts with 99 (Aaron Donald), just the generational talent and what he attracts to have give someone a chance to stop him. You gotta worry about that, but then you add in the guys around him and some pretty good coverages with that."

When the two teams last met in Week 18 of the regular season, the Rams sacked 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo three times and collected six QB hits.

Part of the reason those numbers were that way was due to Garoppolo getting the ball out quickly in order to minimize the impact of that pressure from the Rams' defensive front as much as possible, though it still led to Garoppolo throwing a pair of interceptions in the the 49ers' 27-24 overtime win.

By the end of the regular season, both teams finished in the top five in sacks – the Rams third with 50 and the 49ers tied with the Dolphins for fifth with 48. That coincided with what is now a streak of six-straight games with at least one sack for Rams outside linebacker Von Miller.

"I mean, they were so good without Von," Shanahan said. "The first time we got to play them, it was hard to even take that in because their rush was so good anyways, and then you add Von Miler. And just watching him throughout the year, you can tell he keeps getting healthier. I know he was a little big banged up when he came over from Denver, but you could tell he keeps getting healthier, is getting more comfortable. They've got as good of a group as I've ever seen. And to add Von Miller to the people they already have, with their scheme and everything, I mean, everyone saw it last week vs. Tampa and that's usually how it's going to look."

While Donald, Miller and outside linebacker Leonard Floyd teamed up to account for each of the Rams' three sacks against Bucs quarterback Tom Brady in the Divisional Round, the 49ers pass rush took down Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers five times – led by two each from defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Nick Bosa – as Rodgers was held to 225 passing yards and no touchdowns.

"Usually the teams at this point in the year all have good pass rushes," Shanahan Said. "I think it's pretty hard to get to this point when you don't have one, but I think we're two of the top."

Niners are getting Mohammed Sanu back. The Rams need their secondary to be tackling and hitting hard on all Niners WRs and putting on the hurts.

I'd almost run the same gameplan the Patriots did against us in the SB. Don't focus as much on penetration as you do holding the line and not giving them these cut back lanes. Make a wall.

So on GMFB this morning there was a discussion on which story is more compelling. Stafford or G-string. As expected Schaeger pressed for Stafford with a very compelling take. And as expected Kay Adams pressed for G-string with nothing to say except Stafford has all the support in the world at his finger tips but G-string does it all by himself. Perhaps it’s scripted point counter point stuff but it’s another example of nauseating bias.
