If the Rams don't beat themselves they should be set up to win comfortably. The Rams are fully capable of putting together 60 minutes of minimal mistake free football. No team is perfect but they need to minimize it against grind it out teams like the 9ers.

As far as X's and O's go we need to protect the middle of the field. It's where the Rams struggle the most in coverage. Reeder is not a good cover LB so the Rams need to protect him in between the hash marks.
The edges in the running game. In the 2nd half of our last game with the 9ers they attacked the edges in the second half. Same thing as they did against the pack and had great success doing so.
3rd down. Let jimmy g string beat you. He's proven w the ball in his hands he will give the defense opportunities with turnovers. We need to take advantage of this.
Last thing, tackle tackle tackle. In our last game we really struggled tackling in the open field. We have to minimize those and play sound.

If we do these things we should easily win. But we'll see

Got em right where we wanted them. The Rams brain trust had this figured out all the way.

I have an idea... let's switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 for this game. Insert Bobby Brown or Sebastian Joseph Day in the middle with Ashawn as d-tackles and line up Aaron Donald as a defensive end along with Von Miller. Or keep Floyd as DE and put Von Miller or Donald at LB. Keep Reeder in there along with Ernest Jones and get physical! Howard can cover Kittles with help, and match-up Deebo with Ramsey.

I know it's thinking out of the box, but I am tired of not being able to stop the run, and I do not know what the answer is. And I asked this last time but did not get an response... does anyone know if they are running at Donald or running away from him? Thx.

They double team AD and often try to use one of the gaps next to him. The problem is the refs never call holding when it's happening all too often. A few holding calls will kill their run only drives. I think we need a spy on deebo samuel. To follow his path so there's another defender if he gets a handoff and a double team if he is running a passing route. Take away their primary weapon and I believe the whiners options are limited.

Play the game just like we did up to the empty backfield 3 and 1. Make them become a passing team instead of run first.

Our offense is the key to this one. I think our defense will keep the score down, and they're playing well enough to where they should be able to stifle the 9ers for much of the game.

But the offense needs to overcome this defensive front. And the problem I think boils down to the fact that our OL has not been able to check their pass rush. They just win too much up front vs our OL. But in those stretches where the Rams are even trying to run the ball it's not as noticeable. So here's what I'd do...

1. Ensure you run the ball on either first or second down. Fans gonna bitch but too bad. That does a couple things, those being keeping them playing their run fits as well as slowly wearing them down as stopping the run is hard work (you gotta work off blocks, hold your position or lane, chase more, etc).

2. Some of those runs need to be draws. Nobody runs draws any more. But guess what: Michel would be a fucking beast on draws with his ability to break tackles and arm grabs and shit. And if you call them as soon as the 9ers quit playing their run fits you can get really big plays. Run some draws with Big 25 and you can do that instead of the stupid fucking screens we usually run when McVay doesn't trust his protections.

3. Use the fucking jet sweeps. It was so nice to see Jefferson get one the last game, but he's not the ideal guy to be running it. As I suggested in the other thread, McVay needs to draw up some 12 sets with AKERS as the jet action and Michel in the backfield. Make Warner choose.

4. Simplify shit for the QB. 9ers get quick pressures often vs our line. That probably won't change. So go easy on the 7 step drops where Stafford is trying to hold safeties with his eyes. Rollouts are better if the QB needs more time, sucks in terms of the timing vs a straight drop you can practice and have muscle memory for, but that's the price of playing this type of front.

5. Be patient. Take your shots. But don't press it. Play field position and know this is a dogfight.

And btw I think the Rams take care of business in this one. It just would be nice if they'd do the above and beat those fuckers down.

If the 49er pass rush continues to dominate our interior o-line, hit them with some quick passes. If Stafford gets rid of the ball in a flash, the 49er pass rush will not be able to get home. I am surprised the Rams have not done that more often vs. aggressive fronts. Especially since we see it all the time, with opposing coaches drawing it up in an attempt to neutralize Aaron Donald. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But when the o-line is getting schooled, McVay still seems to want long developing pass plays. He's done a really good job and self reflecting the past several weeks and fixing stuff like that. Hopefully, that continues.

Rams need to show they're stopping the run early. Load it up with Gaines, Johnson, AD, hopefully SJD and earnest jones, as part of a 5 or 6 man front. Push them into Jimmy's lap. I'd say thumb but you don't want to injure anyone.

Have to prove that after 6 straight losses, we won't let them run it down our throats, again.

Double kittle with burgess and howard and for God's sake can we please just have Ramsey on debo all fucking game. Take away those 2 guys and the rest of our secondary will be fine against ayuike and whoever.

If we lose we lose, but if we lose because debo is being covered by DD, no disrespect, and Reeder, maybe a smidgen of disrespect given the context, then all hells breaking loose this offseason.

1) Hire a dirty whore to give Jimmy another STD this week. One that burns and itches.

2) Go tailgate at SoFi and beat the shit out of every red shirt you see

3) Pass the ball early to set up the run. Similar to our TB game plan.

4) Get a big lead early and turn the boys up front loose

5) Don't get conservative with play-calling and collapse after we get our big lead

6) NO FUCKING TURNOVERS

7) Tackle well in space

8) Repeat steps 1&2
# 2, really dude ?
fans should be able to go to opposing teams fields and be safe from "beat the $hit out of" for being there to watch and support their team. Niner fans have a high percentage of knownothing Delta Bravos for sure.
This is what I have seen going to Rams NFL games in opposing stadiums. I have seen a Rams fans eye beaten out of his socket, it was hanging out. I seen a giant 6'8 thug, gang member pos getting in the face of a 5-6 year old with a Rams jersey on and screaming at him, pointing down to him all while holding the hand of his father. Who could do nothing.
I seen about 10 guys beat a Rams fan half to death, circle him, pull out their junk and piss all over the guy.
Civilized much ?
We need less of that violence and intimidation at stadiums. It used to be a family thing. Now because of thugs its better to watch it at home on the big screen.

I admit. I'm dreading this game. All the guys i work with and talk sports with will tell you that for weeks i've been saying..."As long as we don't draw SF we're going to the big game."

And here we are. If this thing doesn't go the right way....

That doesn't make sense. In our 3-4, we have:
OLB: Miller
DE: Donald ILB: Reeder or Jones
NT: Gaines
DE: Robinson ILB: Howard or Jones
OLB: Floyd

How do we benefit from subbing out a player at our strongest positions (DL/EDGE) for a player at our weakest position (ILB)?

It's really first down that we need to be extra stout. When the whiners get 2nd and 3 or 2nd and 2, they have many options including just running it again and moving the chains. If they're at 2nd and 10, now a second run is less likely. If we can keep them at 3rd and 6 or more yards consistently, we will be able to pressure Jimmy Grabhisownpole and we'll get some punts out of that.
