With a Super Bowl or bust-type approach to the season.. I just don't see any way they roll in without adding a vet like Jimmy G.

Here he's just prying for an answer and using the "fans want to know" excuse. No we don't unless someone doesn't make the trip.
It seems pretty clear that he's in the lead for the backup role. He gets QB2 snaps when Stafford practices while Simpson doesn't get any snaps.
What more evidence do we want?

It sure sounds from Nate (including his article today) that Rams want Ty at QB3 this season so it does seem like the choice is Bennett or veteran for QB2.

No matter what, sounds like we're carrying (3) QB's on the roster -- there's no way that either Bennett or Simpson make it past waivers.
Didn't we keep (2) QB's last season? and the year before that?

Yes, we are rostering 3. No big. Either one of them would get claimed.
Yabutt we're gonna lose a few really good players. 53 is already a pretty small roster number. Last 2 years, minus the QB's we were able to keep 51 on the roster, now we gotta cut down to 50.

Thats the way it goes. We're carrying a red-shirted Simpson this year, no way around it. We've carried 3 QB's before, one year it was Bryce Perkins.
No, Stafford, Garoppolo and Bennett were all on the 53-man roster the past two seasons.
Yes ... last two years it has been Stafford, Garoppolo and Bennett.
Didnt realize that. Thought we had Bennett on PS, and there were rules protecting against poaching. Lost track somewhere along the way of PS rules.
