If I am the Rams I don't let JG sign with anyone else.

This may be right but there are so many idiosyncratic aspects of Brady's story, rise and longevity that I'm not sure he always has the right read on certain QB things. (I know that's laughable coming from a couch jockey here).Brady talked about this. Especially with these college qbs bouncing around. They come to the League underdeveloped and nfl coordinators feel the need to progress them early for the sake of their jobs.
Not just coordinators. Head coaches. GMs. Hell, there have been owners who say who to start at QB.Brady talked about this. Especially with these college qbs bouncing around. They come to the League underdeveloped and nfl coordinators feel the need to progress them early for the sake of their jobs.
That was game 3 with McVay!!!!I remember 2022.
Until Baker came - we sucked on offense once Stafford went down.
And Baker only played well in the Denver game. I will admit - he played great in that game.
Rams starting WRs Baker's first 2 starts. Brandon Powell, Van Jefferson, Tutu. In Baker's first two starts and the Raiders game he came in on the second series, Akers was the primary RB. He had 47 attempts, 225 yards (4.8) and 4 TDs.2022 had a SIEVE Offensive Line. Didnt have WR Corps approaching ours now. Didnt have Running Backs that would make our RB2 now. Didnt have Tight Ends we have now.
Try not to get any Carolina Panthers flashbacks.Sign me up!
There was one of the pods recently that talked about how even when Lake came back, teams had learned over the course of the season ways to both avoid him and take the rest of our safeties out of plays and just use our abysmal CB play against us. Teams won't be available to our safeties this year with Trent and Watson.Try not to get any Carolina Panthers flashbacks.
They gave us hell last year and came within like 38 seconds from knocking us out of the playoffs.
It took a Matthew Stafford miracle to advance us.
I think Carolina hung about 65 points on our defense last year.
That team also had all kinds of OL injuries. Which I think demonstrated that even McVay cannot overcome shit ass OL play.Yeah, the offense was bad. They averaged 15.5 points per game if we're not counting the Mayfield games. That's still better than 13.
And nearly all circumstances were worse than what we have now. In 2022, our star WR was also on IR. As pointed out above by Coliseum, every offensive unit is better now.
Another difference would be the QBs. I like the upside of Bennett and Simpson over Wolford and Perkins.
But this is all immaterial. The general rule is, if you're starting QB misses 8 games, you're not winning the SB anyway, no matter how good your backup. (The obviuous great exception on backups is Warner.)
If we win this year, there will have to be some luck, especially pertaining to health.
Yeah, I'm sure there's no exact science. Some guys can do it, and others can't. There isn't an option for the ones who can't, though. This may be right but there are so many idiosyncratic aspects of Brady's story, rise and longevity that I'm not sure he always has the right read on certain QB things. There are many OC's and coaches who seem to think playing right away (hopefully with a good ecosystem) is the better way to learn the position.
I suspect it just depends on too many factors to say one way is right or wrong though I think he has a point about people watching out for the jobs.
Saw a few posts about the Rams' disasterous 2022 Season.
There were many factors, including a short offseason, Lombardi-hangover and a ton of injuries.
But 1st on the list should be the Offensive Line Injuries.
That factor alone would have kept the Rams out of the playoffs, in my opinion.
14 different players started on the O-Line.
The pre-season projected starting-OL combined for a mere 34 starts.
If the five projected starters had each played a full season, they would have started a combined 85 games.
All of the above, with Havenstein starting all 17 games.
That means the other four projected starters combined for a mere 17 games ... should have been 68 (4 X 17).
Only one other O-Lineman started more than eight games. That's Zero Stability.
The Rams didn't merely lose starters, they lost their 53-man O-Line roster reserves to injuries; and were starting practice squad players (Arcuri, Kolone, Brewer, Anchrum all started games).
By mid-season, the Rams were signing players off-the-street and starting them on Sunday.
McVay was joking that he had to introduce himself to starting offensive linemen on Gameday.
Matt Skura, Oday Aboushi and Ty Nsekhe were all essentially retired when they were signed; and they combined for 20 starts! Two of those guys never played another NFL game; and the thrid (Nsekhe) only played two more games the following season.
In my opinion, outside of Quarterback ... Talent, Cohesiveness and Health on the Offensive Line, is the most important factor for the success a a football team.
