How in the hell did we end up with two Kams. That's weird as hell.

Kinchens isn’t a fully rounded player yet. Los Angeles bucked the trend when it picked him in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Miami, overlooking an athletic profile that lagged in nearly every measurable. Kinchens stood 5-foot-11, ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash time and put forth a broad jump of 9-foot-2, all marks in the bottom 38 percent of NFL combine safeties all time, according to Relative Athletic Score.

But the Rams selected him anyway because of his ball skills. Kinchens had six interceptions as a sophomore and five more as a junior, with pick sixes in both seasons.

So they picked him because he could play good football? What a novel idea.

I've always been partial to points myself. Isn't that the goal? To prevent points. McVay has had a lot of teams that give up yards but lock down in the RZ, thus giving up fewer points. I'll take that if I had to choose.

But I expect this team to excel in both categories. If they lead in sacks and turnovers, and continue to stop the run like or better than last year, they shouldn't give up many yards or points.

People can call me unrealistic, but if they're lower than top 5 in either category, I think they've underperformed. And this is without Donald. I see no way you add McDuffie, Watson, and Garrett to what was already a good defense last year and only come away with #5.
All completely solid takes.

I just think there could be some empty yards.. AND, I should've added, points. Garbage stuff when resting starters.

Either way.. we both expect a dominating unit. :)

Great piece on Kinchens. Rams need to, and we need to get it in our heads that we are now a "Defense-first" team.

Means being more conservative on offense, being willing to punt, and the head coach needs to call plays more conservatively. Next time be content going into Halftime with a 3-point lead in the Championship Game.

If I recall correctly, Andy Reid typically let's his starters play in the first game. That's good work for Bennett. I'd be shocked if he didn't play.

Can't explain it, but Bennett not playing wouldn't tell me he's locked in at #2 QB. It would make me think Garoppolo is actually coming back and Simpson is getting all the touches he'll get this season this summer.
I'm picking up what you're putting down...
Furthermore, If they can get thru game #1 before signing JG, his contract wouldn't be guaranteed

I think it's important that the Rams have put more emphasis on the defense improving for this year. Although the offense was awesome last year and should be good again this year, it would be nice to finally have a defense that can dominate in those cases where for whatever reason the offense may sputter.
