Arm length definitely matters. How many times have you see a DE reach for the QB and miss grabbing onto him by half an inch?
I think it's more about keeping clean against O-linemen and being able to prevent tackles from being able to get into his body. He will be going up against the best of the best every week unlike college. Small details are magnified in the NFL.

Just out of curiosity, if we do move the 29th pick in the draft for a guy like McDuffie, would people want to stick at 13??

What if we have to give up a mid rounder in 2027 too to get him? Stay at 13?
I would rather keep the picks or trade up or down for other picks. We already have a lot of vets to sign and we'll need the cap.

I would move back 4 or 5 spots to recoup a pick and could still get a McNeil-Warren, Theineman, Boston, Cooper, McDonald, Hunter, Hood, or maybe even Sadiq slides a little. Heck, maybe even Simpson. In other words, they can still get a contributing player or quality prospect.

So any move that gives up a pick, I would also trade back elsewhere to recoup a pick.
Obviously we'll need a trade partner which might be hard to come by this year but I agree. I don't love the guys that I think are there at 13 any more than the guys who'll be there at 14-20 so it's an option I would consider. (Also, I think there there's a shot that both top CBs will be off the board by the time we draft).

With devalued positions greatness changes the rules. So with Love for example as a devalued position, it doesn't matter. He's still worthy of a very high pick. Same with Styles. Elite players are always a priority for a smart team. And we have a smart team.

The problem is neither will get anywhere near us. Feels very unlikely. Best bet for that is probably Downs.
Totally agree there. Styles and Love gonna go very high. Our chances would have been better had we beat Atlanta and that they lost at least one more game.

So does Makai Lemon's weird as hell Draft interviews scare anyone off from him? Seems like a red flag for an organization like ours that values character and not being a weird fuck over talent at times.
I watched a 2min interview on reddit and it was fine, I have heard there was a clip that came off weird but haven't seen it.

We'd have to consider that trade if FA doesn't go well. There are 2 guys I'd much rather just sign then trade a 1st and have to pay a lot to. And no, I would definitely not add another pick to the offer. We are giving a premium pick and paying a ton for a player.
Nothing says "Go get him!" to me quite like trying to get ahead of the Browns to select a QB.
Yes, this is just teams trying to get better players by someone moving in front of the Browns to draft Simpson. Dear Lord, please do not make that team us.

As for his character, I didn’t hear him say anything that scared me off, but man, did he sound inarticulate. He went to college, right?
Ouch.

Assuming no special talent falls to us unexpectedly, I’d be perfectly fine and happy going (players who I expect to be available at selection time):

13: WR Boston (WA)
29: CB Johnson (SDSU)

But I think FA could change this a lot. Also a trade of 29 - especially depending how FA goes for us.
The team landscape and our needs will drastically change. Probably to the point that we can go BPA (or QB).

I watched the entire interview and it rubbed me the wrong way. But I already view him as a redundant piece. Would not be a bad pick however I think we have better options in terms of roles we need help (as opposed to the slot where we have the league's best player), and we also have better option I am sure in terms of personality and team fit. Not a bad dude, he's gonna be a very good pro, but just not the way I'd go.

To go a bit further on the post above watch Boston's interview. I always look up interviews of these players to try to get a feel for the personality. It's still not an accurate way to get to know them, but at least it provides some insight. But if you watch Boston's demeanor in the interview he is intelligent and actually interacted with the press in a completely different way than what you saw with Lemon.

So you have a player that I think is a similar grade to Lemon who has the right stuff on the personality side that I like to see, plus he's also moreso what we need in this offense for the 2026 run, where he can expand our attack vs easy draws and add something we didn't have prior. Now Lemon can also go get a ball when it's in the air. But Boston is a significantly sized wideout and he's also going to be a hell of a pro. He's the real deal.

Way I see the early going there's a real risk Boston goes off that board before 13.
