Feel bad for McCoy, dude went from possibly first cb taken to day 3 pick at best. I'd definitely take a flier on him.
I am as well. I'm also intrigued by Brennan Presley and Mario Williams; all three of them looked outstanding in preseason. Maybe that's why the Rams haven't taken a receiver.
If we trade next years 4th it’s worth around pick 140 on the value chart

McVay and Snead addressed the Ty Simpson noise head-on tonight.
They didn’t dodge it. Made it clear this was a collaborative, forward-looking decision, not the “they’re not aligned” narrative floating around.
Perfection doesn’t exist in this league, only one team wins every year, but I wouldn’t trade these two for anyone, past or present. They handled it professionally and didn’t let it linger. Masterclass.
Barrian Brown would be a nice add. Speedy returner, developmental WR. A lot of mocks simulators had him as a late 6th or 7th pick. Of course, I have seen guys taken tonight who were mocked in the later rounds.

I like that at 6' 3" he adds a little height to the receiver room.
Promoting a guy like Edwards and playing Ferguson or the new TE as a WR could be part of the plan.
I think they are clearly saying the offense is changing a bit this year. A lot more 13, a lot more big player packages....it offers a lot of personal/package options.
Or the Rams may still draft a WR or sign a vet free agent.
At least I like Keagen Trost. I don't see him seriously as an OT as he's listed unless it's in an emergency. He looks like an OG to me. However, I am surprised he went ahead of other players including WR Chris Bell, who went immediately after Trost's selection.
Also, I'm not at all surprised that the Rams drafted a TE. I've said before that the Rams should draft at least two receiver prospects whether they be two wide receivers or a wide receiver and a tight end. McVay likes to utilize his tight ends and did so to much success in the past with the team formerly known as the Redskins. He hasn't found that same formula here in Los Angeles, so I get him trying to replicate more of what he had in Washington, D.C.
I don't know enough about Max Klare to weigh in on a position one way or the other on him other than that he's tall and speedy. However, the Ringer scouting profile has him as being sure-handed but I've seen scouting reports saying he had issues with drops, so I don't know what to believe. Apparently, he's also a bit slim-bodied, so he needs to add weight to his frame but he's been used to block in a lot of situations.

I actually like the Klare pick over forcing a WR there. Kid has a burst that's WR-like even if his long speed is just okay.

In addition to your points, they're also moving to 13 because defenses have gone smaller with more safeties. There aren't many good coverage LBs league-wide. So good receiving, big bodied TEs are mismatches. The only teams that can match up are defenses like Seattle that have a safety that excels in the run and pass game. The answer for those defenses are to have multiple TEs to throw at em.
Good point on the high floor versus upside. That works because they usually pay money or trade for the stars. Everyone they draft needs to be able to be plugged into a role to give them league-average performance for cheap.
It's kind of funny that McVay, who is the most empathetic and politically correct coach ever in pressers, ends up being punished for not being his usual self with a social media shit storm.

Trost is 25 ... has been mostly a RT, so the position flexibility is a projection.
I read two draft site evaluations.
The first called him a 'good back-up, with the potential to start' and projected him in Round 4.
The second was not nearly as favorable, ranking him as the #38 OL and projected him in Round 6.
Again ... I liked the pick.
