I'm a big Simpson guy now. He's a Ram. I'll not talk bad about him. He will hopefully learn a ton from Stafford for the next 2 years. I've always thought he would be good, but didn't think 13 was the right pick for him. Either way, Rams are solid scouts on later WR's so I'm not concerned about that. I definitely expect them to trade up for a guy they love in the 2nd.

You know, guys, that the opinion of Sean and Les on a [rare for LAR) 1st round pick is probably 10x more informed than any of us and any talking head on TV. They have their jobs for a reason and have plenty of backup evidence that they know what they're doing.

Not saying they can't be wrong but the list of people better qualified to make these decisions is pretty short.

I've always been a supporter of Les Snead mostly because he finds ways to make trades, but his decisions with high-value draft picks at times been downright stupid more often than not. Sean Mannion. Gerald Everett. Brian Allen. Van Jefferson. Josh Noteboom. TuTu Atwell. Logan Bruss. I wasn't happy with the Terrance Ferguson pick either.

Treating this selection as a luxury instead of an opportunity for a building block is inexcusable. Simpson likely would have been available with the 29th overall pick that was traded for McDuffie. Simpson is in an ideal situation for him and Les really likes him, but I swear, if it doesn't work out. I want Les fired. This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

I knew the organization liked him, but it looks like it's Snead leading the charge as the top advocate. Yeah, I know people like Simpson's footwork and IQ but his arm isn't impressive to me but good enough I guess. Another knock is that he's a bit undersized not just height-wise but Schraeger was saying GMs are concerned about his build being able to withstand the NFL game.

Monroe Freeling is my favorite player in the draft, but I didn't think the Rams would seriously consider him. Bain was the best player available and we just gifted him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I wasn't fond of taking Lemon either because I feel Omar Cooper, Jr. is the more dynamic player, but either one of those prospects were more appealing.

I get that it was hard to trade down, but there should have been opportunities with Detroit and other teams given what was still available. I'm in utter disbelief.

This is a complete squandering of a great opportunity. That's the problem with this win-now mentality. Snead took things for granted and didn't take this draft seriously enough. Disgusting.
That's a lot of crying bro. Too bad gifs aren't working I would've handed you a tissue.

Good call -- this does feel very much like the JJ McCarthy pick.
As much as this pick irritates me, I have to say JJ routinely got the ball taken out of his hands by Harbaugh. He didn't drive the offense, he was part of it. Simpson did drive that Bama offense.

Bucs got a steal in Bain.
Yes. Those bastids.

His extensive injury history is getting dinged up and playing through it?

Dinged up? A bulging disc is not "dinged up". A cracked rib from an undersized corner and not being able to play through it (had to be replaced by his backup afterward) is not "dinged up". Losing weight from gastritis is not "dinged up".

It's a history. It's an extensive injury history in the only season he played in. And his frame is slight. His weight already thin for the NFL.

Yeah, I agree. I've always said no matter who the Rams pick, I'll give my knee jerk reaction, and root that player on (whether I liked them or not) to be the best Ram ever. Now with that said, he better not suck or this gonna carry on like the Humphrey conversation.

I love it! This is the kind of overreaction I was looking for, the rest of you guys are slacking.
