The late Gil Brandt use to say something like if you've got a chance to select a QB you love, take him because that opportunity doesn't come around often.
I'm going with a solid B first round grade only because we don't know how good Simpson will be.
We could end up looking at an A+ when you consider McDuffie.
The guy many were comparing Simpson to is Brock Purdy. But Purdy was drafted in the last round, and that was for a reason. Let's hope McVay is, in fact, smarter than everybody else. He's earned the benefit of the doubt. Time will tell. The best we can hope for is that this pick will pay off in 3 or maybe 4 years. Won't do much for our final seasons with Stafford, though.

I'm not some blind homer who just turns my brain off and roots for sake of rooting. My criticism is aimed at improving the team. I gave you a list of recent failed picks in Days 2 and 3 in the McVay-Snead era so spare me the overreaction BS. They are not infallible. I've noted in other threads that I don't hate Simpson, but I'm certainly not a believer. I hate the squandered opportunity.

Hopefully it's just his young college weight, but im surprised he's 10 pounds smaller than Purdy. Purdy is already not a big guy, but he's solidly bigger than Simpson.
