I’m not here to judge how anyone feels about this stuff.
Here’s an example of a play. Two fiery competitive dudes.
No gestures that some may interpret as inappropriate…but I wonder if this draws a flag now(?)
I think it would.
If it does then I worry about where this kind of enforcement is headed. That’s my original point.
This happens in half the games and the official did the right thing. “You better both be saying good run and good tackle. Otherwise, you need to get on your side of the ball.”
It’s more typical to escalate when an official doesn’t address it. I’ve seen it happen and I’ll talk to my fellow official and let him know to get in each player’s ear.
