Take out Kupps $29 cap hit since it's reflected in dead cap and it shows the Rams with around $14m of space on Spotrac. OverTheCap shows $20m or so. Seems we still have a move to make, Asante Samuel or Justin Simmons, or both perhaps? Wouldn't that solve another area of need before the draft. Looks like swing tackle will have to taken care of in the draft, not much available right now free agent wise.

We still need money to sign draft picks…or are you already accounting for that?

I always thought it was a derivative of the first down gesture that many clowns in the NFL use. I really detest the Defensive Team running the length of the field after a turnover and posing in the end zone but I’m old school. I don’t like any celebrations other than TDs so stay off my lawn with those celebrations.

I always thought it was a sexually suggestive gesture inferring the defender was a [insert any word you like for female genitalia] and he’d “fingered” the [same word] and was smelling his finger.

And… so tf what? This is real snowflake shit and this coming from maybe the leftiest of the lefties on the board.

Can we focus on getting the damn calls right first???

Yeah. I think those are lame as well and at minimum should be called delay of game.

I do actually have a problem with players celebrating with gang gestures. There is absolutely no place for this type of behavior with all due respect. Young men should act like MEN, not some punks on a cruise down Riverside Avenue. Yes, they should set examples if they want folks to pay to watch them and buy their merchandise.
Is that a gang jester though? I’d never heard that.

Yes, but not if it has shoes hanging from a powerline somewhere on it. Then, it's a hat "with gang stuff on it."
It's got other stuff on it too.

Kind of looks like a nice blue Los Angeles sports cap, celebrating some recent L.A. championships ...

Maybe Adams was aware of some nefarious meaning ... maybe not ....
Maybe the Rams' PR people handed Adams the cap to wear at the press conference ... maybe not ...

Found a closer front view. It is "not" a good look now that I can see it better. It does show shoes hanging from powerlines. Since it has a "gang" reference "appearance", I don't think its a good addition to the hat.

"Shoes on a telephone wire are popularly said to be linked to organized crime, signifying the location of gang turf, commemorating the death of a gang member or a non-gang member who lived in the area. The shoes are also rumored to mark a spot for drug deals or to indicate a nearby crack-house, in which case they can be called "crack tennies".

A 2003 newsletter from former Los Angeles, California, mayor James Hahn cited fears of many L.A. residents that "these shoes indicate sites at which drugs are sold or worse yet, gang turf," and that city and utility employees had launched a program to remove the shoes."

it was in another thread, not sure which one, and people were a little confused at Devante's hat and why it had powerlines over the LA logo.

If you looked closely, there were shoes hanging from the powerlines.

In LA, that was an old way for gangs to mark their territory. Though one can argue it's been co-opted by now into more popular culture.
Man that’s been around since the 60s at least. People used to do it when they quit a job or retired, among other things.

I am familiar with the Deadlift. Considering Forbes' build, I would think this type of lift would be new to him. And, wouldn't it be recommended , using the Trap bar, to do more reps with less weight?
When I was in my late teens and training for basketball, I had a similar build to Forbes. One of the Football coaches recommended I do squats to strengthen my lower body. He had me start with just 40 pounds and 10-12 reps per set. Now, 45 years later, and after back surgery, I stick to the Leg press which is safer for the back.

Depending what his goal is which I’d assume is to bulk up, you want to do more weight less reps.

More reps and less rate is generally used to building endurance/ defining your physique more.

That was the first time I have seen a trap bar without one side of it which was pretty cool.

Was wondering when someone would post the shoes on power lines calling it a spot to buy drugs. Growing up in LA and IE, that was always the myth. Other times it was kids being dumb kids and throwing a rival’s shoes up on a power line.

I talked about the nose rub with one of my crews yesterday since I saw it at least once last year in HS and youth. Both opposing coaches and a couple players were displeased, and the crews I worked were oblivious and didn’t even know it was a “thing.” Who honestly watches and cheers for the Cowboys?

The rule book states to call “insulting gestures” an unsportsmanlike conduct (usc). For reference, pointing back at the other team or their bench is the most common USC we see and call.

If coaches and players were insulted by it, then that’s how it needs to be officiated per the rule book. Moving forward, it will need to be covered in pregame with coaches as the interpretation of the rule.

These snuff out rules just keep getting more ridiculous.

There’s maybe 2%(?) of the NFL audience that considers these gestures a problem. Same with taunting a sideline. Standing over a player. Jawing, verbally sparring etc.

It’s one of the highest levels of physical competition and entertainment.

I think it’s higher than 2%. If that’s the case the league wouldn’t even think about it.

Nice, slipping a political jab in here. :explode1:

It has nothing to do with politics Mack. I don’t care what he does in private as long as it’s legal. But little kids watch these games and emulate what their favorite players do on the field.

Celebrate cleanly. Sexual gestures are not necessary.

When it’s your team that’s getting taunted or throat slashed after getting scored on, I’m 100% sure folks have a problem with it.

In this day and age all it takes is one complaint to send entities into an optics panic.

TBH, it annoys me more when we get the endzone selfie celebrations.

Anyway…let’s make fixing the officiating problem priority one rather than stuff like this.

To be honest, I don’t like any of the taunting or bragging or whatever you call it. Kupp is the gold standard of being a professional. I wish more players would emulate him. Celebrating does not have to include derision toward an opponent.

I’m not here to judge how anyone feels about this stuff.

Here’s an example of a play. Two fiery competitive dudes.

No gestures that some may interpret as inappropriate…but I wonder if this draws a flag now(?)

I think it would.
If it does then I worry about where this kind of enforcement is headed. That’s my original point.

I doubt it. They are just jawing at each other. The words weren’t aired. If they were it would be the TV stations fault. A gesture can be seen by everyone though. In many cases they are easy to understand.
