No. It took him years to tear Goff down, then not have the ability to build him back up again.
Wait, what?
He maxed out Goff capability.
Goff is what he is. Terrific passer when he has the protection and the weapons but he folds like a cheap tent when it matters most.

Possibly, McVay may have done it in a locker room/office type thing. But if it happens on field in an open practice then not much he can do about it. McVay may have a cooler head and not done this as obviously in the open.
Again I don’t know any of the circumstances, and it may be cracking down on a player for his own good. But it also could be a guy who’s making big waves to assert his “leadership”
Alas, I couldn’t care less, just a reminder of how lucky we are to have the coach we have

Apple and oranges..

The logic being.....from what he did as an OC, the players should respect that. Of course the logic NFL owners and GMs go by is "he was a very successful coordinator, therefore, he should be a very successful head coach".
And we both know that's more a theory, than how it actually works.

I was talking about respect. You're talking about success. Two different things.

So why wasn't McDaniel successful? I don't know but he wasn't.
so much ink has been spilled on why McDaniel's was a failure

He didn’t look it at first either when he was 6-0 in his first 6
Yeah, he looked crazy for trading Cutler but then made everyone pause for a second before looking crazy again later that year with Marshall.

It's no shock that the only successful HC to come from that tree is Vrabel. Everyone else tried to copy Bill and it just came off as being a hard ass to be a hard ass and that was more important than actually motivating players. Vrabel - while sharing some of Bill's characteristics - is really his own man and him being a hard ass is intrinsic to his makeup, part of how he motivates and not an act.

Vrabel was never on Belichick's coaching staff though

Fucking Hilarious from an overall team franchise ownership standpoint to a gifted NFL player. The NFL is way way way way way beyond TMZ or whatever garbage the social media apps make available. No thanks, This soap opera will likely resolve in a few days. The drama lama drama lama drama is becoming WNBA level bitch shit. Call me out, TH deserves it all, however a pathetic owner and GM wanna play "hide and go seek". The latter will pay up record blowing. Fucking hilarious NFL TMZ dumbass drama.
Trey Hendrickson

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson (contract) plans to report to training camp Wednesday.
Hendrickson’s contract saga is still not over as both sides have yet to agree to a deal. However, the 30-year-old has decided to report to Bengals camp, according to Schefter. He was placed on the reserve/did not report list to start camp, making his holdout official and resulting in $50K of fines per day. The fines will now stop as Hendrickson hopes to jumpstart negotiations with the Bengals once again. The two sides are no closer to a new contract, but Cincy has resolved rookie Shemar Stewart’s dispute. The front office can now devote its full focus to Hendrickson, who is the final NFL holdout to end and wants a deal closer to the top of the market for edge rushers.

Cincinnati seem to be making the correct moves since the players end up resolving the contracts.

Are you sure about Crennel? I know he played in college but didn't think he played in the NFL.
You are correct, dont know why I thought he played. Flores would have but he got hurt, I guess @Lunchbox is right and Mayo is the only one
Most of them played college ball so (like McVay) so I dont think playing NFL makes a difference

Watch it all unfold. If GM, to HC to coaches etc down to players matter. This will likely happy. Fuck the Bengals.

Arm length is nice but give me quick feet, solid base, and ability to keep their pads low and I don't care if they got alligator arms.

OK ... now we know what physical qualities you value in a woman ... but we're talking football here!

Couldn't help it, but when we're talking alligator arms and women at the same time,
I had to bust out these memes!

I think Brian Flores might have been successful if he didnt get screwed in Miami and then doubling down by screwing himself with that lawsuit
We'll never know unless he gets another HC gig.

As far as Belichick assistants, he's had 13 get head coaching jobs. 3** have winning records. Bill O'Brien is 52-48 (2-4 in PS) and long ago, Al Groh was 9-7 before heading off to college. Flores was 24-25 and Nick Saban was 15-17 but nobody else is even sniffing .500.
Daboll 18-32-1 (1-1 ps)
Mangini 33-47 (0-1)
McDaniels 20-33
Judge 10-23
Crennel 32-63
Patricia 13-29-1
Schwartz 29-51 (0-1)
Mayo 4-13

**Charlie Weis went 35-27 at Notre Dame (1-2 in bowl games)
Belichick ex-assistants have a cumulative record of 264-395-2.

On the other hand, Taylor, O'Connell, Raheem (since coaching under McVay), LaFleur and Staley have a combined record of 179-125-1.
