While he's been very healthy and productive on bad teams I might have a hard time paying a guy who will turn 30 on opening weekend the money he's looking for. I get it from both sides though.

This has been the case for a few years now. We have had some very highly paid offensive players not living up to their contracts. Kupp is one of my all time favorite Rams, and a hell of a player, but his production did not match his salary after his historic triple crown year. He was getting paid to be the top WR in the league or close to it. Didn't happen.

Noteboom was paid big bucks to sit on the bench. Same with Jonah Jackson.

Remember Allen Robinson?

Lots of dead money on the books over the years too on offense. Goff. Gurley. Cooks.

The Rams have had good offenses, but realistically, with a top 5 QB in Stafford, and a top 3 offensive head coach in McVay, for how much the team spends on that side of the ball, it has top be a top 5 unit statistically year in and year out. Tough bar for sure. But if you are #1 in the league in offensive spending, and out-spending the teams that round out the top 5 by 10M+, you need to be in that top 5 territory. If you aren't, it's not a good return.

I think the Rams can do it.

I'll pass on any veteran receivers for the foreseeable future. We have a great veteran WR talent in Adams already, and Puka is a bonafide WR1. Let's see what the young guys can do - on the cheap no less - to round out the WR corps. I am maybe the biggest Whittington fan on these boards. And I'm intrigued by what Tutu can do when he gets the football consistently. His production per target is insane. Some intriguing camp reports from the rookies too. Bring someone in at the trade deadline if the young WRs don't prove up to the task, if injuries hit and we need reinforcements, or we're in the Super Bowl bubble and think it can put us over the top like OBJ did.

Hard to think any of the young ones would add anything close to what Scary Terry does. If the top three were Puka, Terry, Adams…nobody is stopping the Rams. There’s just not a team with that many elite DBs

I agree they might not be as good as Scary Terry, but in my opinion, I think Whittington is ready to be an absolute dog as a WR3, I think he is going to explode onto to scene if his body can hold up with his physical style, similar to how Puka did in year 1! We'll see.

Wonder if a 3 year contract would be plausible?

God damn hope so for Whittington. I drafted him in a dynasty fantasy league last year and just got Davonte in a trade.

Hopefully they ball out

Hard to say, he's a 30 year old that's probably thinking this is his last big contract. I'd wager he's looking for as much security as he can possibly get which likely means the most guaranteed money.

This is why teams would attack the Rams weakest spot on O.....the OL.
Teams would bring heat right up the gut at Stafford and challenge the OL to protect him rather than challenge their DBs to cover those WRs.

Honestly posted this because this is where we post this news. As much as Scary Terry would add to our WR core to make it impossible to defend our WRs, I just don't see us even entertaining it unless he was coming cheap which he obviously isn't aiming for considering he's turning 30. Scary Terry wants to get paid the big bucks so I'd imagine the Commodes will most likely pay up.

You think the Rams offensive line is a weakness? I dont.
I mean the weakest part of their O.
Not saying the line will be bad. Health not withstanding, I think this line can be quite good.
Its easier to try and get the QB to move his feet in 2 1/2 seconds than it is to cover for 4 seconds.

That holds true for any team, especially teams with immobile QBs. That's the reason DEs and edge rushers are drafted early....good DTs now too. It doesn't matter how good an Online is. Every team will try to rush the QB.

I believe most of the Eagles defensive starters are on their rookie contracts
True. What I was thinking as I read that as well. Just like our guys. The rookie “Window” is but a blink of the eye. Then the bill is due. Will the Rams be able to keep Verse and Turner and Fiske and Young? Of course not. Young may be the odd man out. Signing a huge deal with Jacksonville or something.
