This, 4-5 games really seems like their floor (well at least prior to their tackle going out). I think people are underestimating how middle of the pack this team could be... except if injuries strike... BA DA DUUUUUUM!

Still play Saints twice this season and Jets. Even conservatively saying they get two wins here, they'll be underdogs in all the other games this year for sure if Penix is out. That would put them at 5 wins on the season.

That alone would be amazing and having a chance - however small - of them losing out completely with 3 wins on the season would be aaaaaaaamazing.

I always pull for lefty players since I’m one myself but I’m not sure protections are that much different anymore since teams are always going to target the weakest link. A new QB period changes protections to a certain extent. The Falcons now have to protect better because they now have an older pocket passer.
Well look at the Rams. If you were to start a backup QB who is a lefty, Havenstein would face the best rusher more often and it wouldn't end well for the backup. Because Hav is more of a throwback type RT who is better in the run game. I wouldn't want him watching my blindside. McClendon either.

Teams definitely have more prioritization of pass pro with the off side OTs nowadays. But the fact is your best pass pro OTs are on the blindside for your QB. And the guys with the great feet are so hard to find there's some teams who don't even have one of them.

It's funny how I never really thought about that effect. But I've been looking at Cole Payton as our "stick him behind Stafford" QB project. And starting to realize the impact of that type of thing on our OTs down the road.

It's an interesting draft for the Rams to have two picks... Limited exceptional talents at CB, OT and QB... arguably the Rams three biggest needs.
Based on the way, they've constructed their team in recent years, they'll be fine without a ton of talent at those three positions....or at least at two of them.

CB - they seem hellbent on emphasizing pressure with a strong front 7 rather than grabbing premium talent at CB. In McVay's 9 years, they haven't used more than a 3rd on a CB and even then it's only been one 3rd. If and when they want top CB talent, they'll trade for it.

And now that Forbes is emerging, I imagine they're starting to think about paying him and going inexpensive at the other CB position.

OT - they seem to like established vets at the edges. We have no need for a LT and I doubt they use a 1st round pick on a RT. Exceptional talent or not, they're more likely to use a day 2 pick here.

QB - it's too bad that it's shaping up to be limited exceptional talent here because they'll never get a better opportunity than this year to draft the QBotF. Good news is that Stafford is playing at such a high level.

Nevertheless, I expect them to use that Atl pick on a QB, either directly or indirectly. Directly by either trading up for their top target or taking a guy they like a lot who falls to them. If neither of those work, then I bet they move back to later in the 1st to pick up future draft capital for a QB push another year.

The trade, the injuries and Zac Roobinson being a terrible OC will cost Morris his job.
Hope not. They've been competitive. Their owner in my estimation is, if anything, too nice. He's let some subpar coaches hang around much longer than I would have in his shoes.

Morris is starting a young QB. The most disappointing aspect of their team is probably their points allowed on defense, but when you have a young QB it throws shit out of whack.

I figure Morris gets another year. Would like to see him get some success down there. Also I like the owner because every time I've caught a game in his stadium I've been amazed by the beer prices.

It's possible he gets that year with Penix being out.

Hope Morris gets another year. From everything I've heard about Arthur Blank, he's one of the few genuinely good owners in sports who just gets us common folk. And it helps that he normally ditches players who don't conform to his standards of humanity (not just Michael Vick, but Prince Shembo, if we're talking about animal cruelty) quicker than someone who ditches a partner who gives them syphilis.

Kindness doesn't cost anything, and you can get more bees with honey than vinegar.

(Yes, I know it's technically flies, but I fucking hate flies. Bees are better. Especially honey bees.)
Reads a little like a So Ram post.

Seriously, while I agree about being kind ... and giving people the benefit of a doubt ... there are exceptions; and that particular poster has frequently shown himself to fall within the Exception Category (in my opinion). The multiple 'Mc-Scatter-Brain' references for McVay being the most current example.
