Well a potential opt out after the 2027 season.
He doesn't have one but they can happen in the NFL. Much more common in baseball.I am not aware of any NFL players having opt-out provisions in their contract.
Teams can release players before a contract expires, and take a dead-cap-hit. If the cap-hit isn't too onerous, some sources will refer to it as a "potential out" for the team but really it's just a release by the team.
Looking at the two best cap sites, should Kansas City release Mahomes after 2027, the Chiefs would take a $24.5M dead-cap-hit, and create about $17.5 of cap space. His 2028 cap hit is the total of those two #'s.
Oh. Like you can remember.Fuck it! It's not OUR younger selves' college football.
Oh. Like you can remember.
What!? Pick 28-30? Oh ye of little faith. We'll have pick 32 in April, 2026. You heard it here...Yeah - pretty cool how good this pick could turn out.Thinking Top 12
What’s the cost for that pick ? Just think of the quality of a player The Rams will get for the next 5 seasons. Then add The Rams first round as well ? Thinking 28-30 there.Which still adds a player for 5 seasons (option).
Excuse my friends lack of tolerance here, but no he cant "opt out" of his contractWell a potential opt out after the 2027 season.
in order for us to get to #1
Likely not but it's going to be like playing the lottery, it'll be fun to fantasize about until that moment the numbers are actually called. Plus, it makes me actually interested in some of these games between shitty teams I would never watch otherwise lol.
Of course this is not going to happen. But could you imagine it. I might have to spend a week on the Shitter board with @Loyal.
The trick is to sign up now on the 49er's board a few weeks before any game and don't get banned before the probation period ends, you rabble rouser!

Well IF it does happen, then I think a trip to the draft may be in order.Likely not but it's going to be like playing the lottery, it'll be fun to fantasize about until that moment the numbers are actually called. No I have to say Mendoza is a better prospect than Goff. He's bigger framed, reads exceptionally well, and moves and runs better than Goff with better decision making on when to run.Not saying he's bad. Good player. But Goff was better, IMO.
You really do crack me up. Like the chiefs aren't gona extend him before he becomes available.IMO Keep Stafford year to year.
Mahomes can opt out after the 2027 season, and I think we should take a shot at trying to land him.
I think Mendoza has a stronger arm and is more athleticNo I have to say Mendoza is a better prospect than Goff. He's bigger framed, reads exceptionally well, and moves and runs better than Goff with better decision making on when to run.
Mendoza is a slam dunk prospect. Goff was a bit below that. And nothing against Goff, he has worked hard to develop into one of the better QBs in the NFL. But just from the prospect side of things it's Mendoza all day long and twice on Sunday.
Anything can happen right? You really do crack me up. Like the chiefs aren't gona extend him before he becomes available.
I would not be surprised if Mendoza is more athletic than Goff too, he hasn't seemed to show it much but it does look like he can run a little when needed (more Mayfield than say Lamar!)if you watch Indiana play, the difference between Mendoza and Rourke is night and day. Rourke folded when facing any type of pressure. 2nd half vs Michigan, the Ohio state game and the ND game for about 57 minutes Rourke was abysmal
I like the Goff comparison, Goff was terrific at Cal in stepping up in the pocket and keeping his eyes down field. I think Mendoza has a stronger arm and a little more of a risk taker which I like.
Mendoza stays at Cal, he's still on the draft board as he was getting press of his 2 years there. Him learning a new system on the fly and excelling right away has the Cam Ward positive effect.
That drive he put on to win at Penn State was epic. Takes the sack on 1st down leaving them 90 yards away with no timeouts. Say what you want about the Nittany Lions, but its still Happy Valley
I mean Drake Maye excelled in the same system as Sam Howell, doesnt make them the same player
