'Nasty' ... I would agree but none of those Defensive Units were better than good, in my opinion.

Too damn inconsistent and undisciplined given how much resources the Rams put into that side-of-the-ball.

None of the Rams' Defensive Units when Fisher was the Head Coach finished in the top-10 in points allowed.

Not one was better than 13th (out of 32 teams).
In fact from 2012-2015, the Rams were between 13th - 16th every season in points allowed. That's just a shade better than League-average.

If the Rams had played top-5-to-10 Defense, even with a conservative and limited Offense, some of those seven-win seasons might have been playoff seasons.
You can't have a great defense when the offenses best player is the punter.

I wouldn't doubt Snead... he traded two #1 picks for Ramsey so he knows that value of a shutdown corner. And this year the Rams have no choice but to draft a good one.
The Ramsey example leans into my point. Notice the way they tend to get CBs? Trades, the occasional free agent, and mid to late round draft picks.

I find it telling that in 9 years, they've had 24 1st to 3rd round picks, they havent used one 1st or 2nd round pick on the position, and only one 3rd has been used on a CB.

What? You didn't like the Robinson Quick and Givens picks?

To be fair to Givens, he had a decent rookie year, and he was a fourth-round pick. He was okay. Not special, but okay for where we got him.

Robinson and Quick on the other hand? Bleh.

Yeah but I didn't want him when he was picked so there is that.

I didn't want John Johnson III when he was picked. He still managed to change my mind.

Chris Givens was actually an okay fourth-round pick. Most fourth-round picks don't do shit in the pros (see Mardy Gilyard, as much as I like the guy as a person, was not a good pro player; hell, the wide receiver we just picked up for our practice squad who's been bouncing around, Tyler Scott, was a late fourth for the Bears) or don't even have the year Givens had as a rookie.

I would like the Rams to pick the best LT prospect with one of the first round picks. I like Jackson but his availability is held hostage by this blood clot problem. The truth is, doctors could shut him down permanently for his health, at any time.
McVay likes veterans, which makes me think he'd trade draft capital for the right veteran after Stafford rides away to retirement. He'd also do it for the right dominant CB.

Unless the Rams trade up for a QB they believe is the future.... I really can see them using one of the firsts and then trading back with the other.. who knows.. maybe parlay one of the firsts into another first rounder in 27 if you think Stafford has one more good year and if you don't think there's a QB who's worth it.

Yeah but I am usually correct in my assessments.

Still can't get over Bradford's arm, how accurate that deep ball was. Really had all of the talent to succeed, but the injuries got him.

But yeah, Givens was a good player in his rookie year. Honestly, Stedman would've been fucking incredible in McVay's system, and S-Jax would've been a first ballot HOFer.

It always makes me sad to see players that do well and play their fucking hearts out on bad teams get wasted or seeing them just be coached in a terrible system. Not just because they deserve better, but because we as fans deserve to see players at their best so we can truly see who deserves a Super Bowl.
