Yes the Edge group led by Verse and Young look good but holy cow are that front 4 a promising group! Turner, Brown and Fiske? Gonna be eating those IoL every weekened! Add in Davis who looks like a beast rotating in and Desjuan has looked promising with Murchison always having moments of brilliance.
Certainly the best all around talent we've had on the DL in quite some time. Hope to be sending in waves after the opposing oline.

Goog for Jackson. I was more worried about about him not starting the season game one than Aleric.
Rams OL stable is stacked, deepest since the days of Pace and Slater. Hope they keep ten. After that, some of these guys are going to be picked up by other teams, and some may even end up starters. New guy Kaski came in at LT late in the game and killed it. Course it was against scrubs, but damn he looked good at LT
Rams are gonna be fine along the OL

Agreed. Only concern for me is LT. If Jackson falls out for whatever reason it's gonna get ugly. But I suppose you can say that about any OL.

I wonder how many guys get picked up from team cuts these days. Seems like we're overestimating it. Felt like it might have been more 20 years ago. But not really a ton now.

Is there a difference? Perhaps front offices are better at ID'ing guys so everyone would rather just keep their own players?

Anyone got any of that... data... on this

Seems like draft position is a great indicator on this. Because the Rams generally have an accurate board, so if they take a guy like say Bruss at 104 there's a good chance he's vetted by many teams in that range when he came out. Also when a guy doesn't work out with a given team they're probably looked at in terms of their measurables, which insinuates that draft process factors in heavily.

So translation is if you cut Bruss he probably has a higher chance of being picked up than Thomas due to the gap in where they were taken. Teams I would assume will look at the film and think "well he had an injury setback" but bounced back. So if we cut Bruss I expect he'll get claimed. But a guy like Arcuri who IIRC was a UDFA probably clears waivers. Thomas probably has a reasonable chance to be claimed, as even though he was taken later teams do look for depth cuts like him this time of year on OL.

I wonder if you're overweighting draft position years ago to youth now. I'd argue that a player that a team evaluated this last year has more interest in them then one years ago (whose only recent tape is last two preseasons - one of those being pretty bad).

If we add in the dynamic factors of him being drafted for outside zone which many teams are moving away from and lack of production over many years, I don't see him getting picked up. But stranger things have happened. I don't think it's a great loss if we lose him.

Can't imagine Thomas get's grabbed either but could happen.

I wonder what the breakdown of positions are where players are picked up by other teams via cut down, if there's a pattern there. I could see OL being a spot where more pickups happen for sure.

Edit: I think everything I've been saying about Thomas and Bruss over the last few days comes with an overarching thought too, I don't think either is such a talent at backup that losing them is that big a deal especially with our depth at tackle and Noteboom being the swing guard/tackle. That being said, I think Thomas seems to be the more consistent of the two and offers more position flex. Hell, let's flip Bruss to LG and see if he could give a showing next game!

Oh, and ST value may make half of what I say about backup guards mute.

Am I exaggerating in saying Bruss was as disliked if not more disliked than Bennett going into camp? Nice to see some good press for him and the good tape we've seen starting to match what we saw in college.

I'm glad he's bouncing back as well (saying this with the caveat that I loved the Bruss selection). That injury was apparently devastating, and he had to recover all of his rookie year and last year. I think he could be a solid swing guard for us.

People think I'm crazy when I say our front will be one of the best even though we lost AD

I said as much in one of my camp reports. A very strong front 4 with edge rushers added in.

This is going to be fun to watch!

I think it's a possibility this year. And certainly did not going into camp.

There were a couple things that seem like they are happening that needed to happen: Young taking the next step (wasn't guaranteed but being reported), Fiske surprising as a force in the middle (which seems likely from reports), Verse being at least as advertised (seems it), Turner taking the next step (less reporting on him, was injured in camp though), a fourth rusher showing some juice (Hampton might be able to offer more this year) and a guy like Tyler who can back up Bobby Brown (though he might be light at the position this year).
