He looked that good his last start but he fell apart in the 4th. Finished tonight. Holmes looked good....again. 6 ps IP, 1 hit. But Weaver is money. 4 saves; one 4 out save, two 5 out saves. 6 ps IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 9 K, 0 R.

The Yankees were 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position (Judge's SF counts as one o-fer but.....). 2 solo homers, 2 runs scored on wild pitches and 1 SF.

And another 7 walks. That's 34 in 5 games this ps..... .218 avg/ .358 ob%/ .353 slg%/ .711 OPS ..... and they're 4-1. What happens when they start hitting?

Cole with a good game tomorrow would set them up nice. Need to start hitting with RISP though.

Ugly win but 2-0 just the same. Torres is on fire. Rizzo with a couple of hits. Verdugo. Judge. Bullpen staying hot.

First run of the game the result of a dropped infield fly. Yankees missed a chance to blow them out but 2 baserunning gaffes limited them. Ugly.

Judge put a fork in them with a 2 run bomb even though Weaver gives up a homer to Ramirez in the 9th.

Ugly wins are still wins and nowhere near as bad as ugly losses.

ESPN reminds us 21 Years ago today:

Aaron Boone puts the Yankees in the World Series with a homer off of Tim Wakefield.

**Technically, it was 12:14 am on the 17th of October.

So if the Yankees close it out tomorrow it could be a bit of a wait for the NLCS winner. Is that good or bad?

Sorry guys. Hope I didn't jinx you. I assumed it was a done deal. I guess it won't end tomorrow. But one win in Cleveland sends them back home with a 3-2 lead. Yankees still in control. Dodgers need 2 of 3 to send them back to LA up 3-2. A Dodgers/Yankees series is still in play.

No jinx. The odds right now are strongly in favor of a NY/LA World Series. But you never know with the way teams have shown the ability to get up off the mat this postseason. Cleveland has fought back the last two games, indicative of their home record this season, 50-30, #3 behind LAD (#2) and Philly (#1). But the Yankees won 50 on the road (#1). These two LCS have been very entertaining.

But WTF happened to Clase, the best closer in baseball the last 3 years?

74 G, 74.1 IP, 2 HR and 5 ER allowed; 4-2, 47 saves, 0.61 Era, 3 blown saves in the regular season
6 G, 7 IP, 3 HR and 8 ER allowed; 0-2, 2 saves, 10.29 Era, 3 blown saves in the postseason

If Cleveland hadn't bailed him out in game 3, he'd be 0-3 and it would have been a sweep.
Against the Yankees....12 batters faced, 6 hits, 1 walk, 1 K, 4 ER, 27.00 Era
Regardless, I hope the Yankees don't allow him another save situation.

Didn't see that. I was too excited he hit the HR. I even watched the video on ESPN and didn't see the drop! But now that you point it out......poor guy!

Did you get as tired as I was hearing about "the four horseman" bullpen? Last night I told my daughter, "the four horseman are from the apocolypse and for Cleveland it was damn close to that!". Those 4 horseman were 0-2 with a 6.59 Era and allowed 4 homers in the series. I don't think they allowed 4 homers all year.

was reading about Soto on Wiki...

In Game 1 of the World Series, Soto hit a home run off Astros' ace Gerrit Cole to start the fourth inning and became the fourth youngest player in MLB history to ever hit a home run in a World Series.[35] Game 3 of the World Series fell on October 25, Soto's 21st birthday, fulfilling an approximately 10-year-old prediction made by Soto's father who said that Soto would play in the World Series on his birthday.

Guess we share the same birthday!!

Game 1 of the 2024 WS is on October 25!
