Sure, an issue is an issue however you want to frame it though. McCarthy might be fine but a happy JJ will make it easier.
Think he’ll be fine, seems like they have a plan in place to let him learn behind Sam Darnold to develop properly.

JJ might have a down season but it’ll be well worth it.

With St Brown and Jefferson getting huge deals, I gotta think the 49ers are fork out quite a bit for Aiyuk. If so they're gonna be pretty tight against the cap for a few years with Purdy's extension next year.

They also have to deal with McCaffrey's contract, I cant imagine he will play this season as is.
2 years left at 14 mill per, none of which is guaranteed.

Aiyuk or Deebo is gone.

The interesting thing to me is that I think Deebo does more to make the offense difficult to handle.. but Aiyuk is the better pure WR.

We'll see what they choose.. but one of them is out the door, especially after the Juaun Jennings deal, imo.

What price would be going through the head of ayuck and his agent right now.

Same for lamb.

Those two guys are gonna ask a lot. Jefferson is better than both, IMO.

What Jefferson got paid plus another 50-250k a year.

You think there is a chance he sits? That’ll be amazing!

Absolutely how contracts work.

Look at AD’s deal for a comp.

Took a few years for that part of the market to catch up.
Got it that explains why Mahomes is the 8th best QB in the NFL.
It's not how contracts work. The next one of these WR's to get paid is likely to get more than Jefferson.

Mahomes is getting paid that because he’s okay getting paid that. If he wanted more, he’d get more.

Bad comp, my friend.

And, nope.

The perception out there is he is WR1. Neither of the other guys are that close.

No he's getting paid that because he signed his contract a few years ago and since then many QB's have signed new deals getting more. As is the way contracts work, highest paid isn't always the best and the most recent contract from a top end guy will out pace the previous one.

Nope.
Not with a player like Mahomes.
His off-the-field is tops in the league, significantly, and he likes winning. He’s shooting for GOAT status and is happy to leave some on the table to make that happen.

If he wanted more, he would get more. There’s no argument here. He’s, by a significant amount, the most valuable player in the NFL.

Didn't they up his contract recently?

I thought it began as a 10 year $500m contract. It should be more than that now.
