Are you getting this impression primarily from Benjamin Allbright's reporting, or other reports? Another poster mentioned Allbright, who covers the Broncos.

Just curious.

You didn't ask me but I'll give you my opinion anyway lol

There are a lot of little clues coalescing in the last week or so.

1) Several reporters have released statements that they are hearing the Rams want to move up for an OT, including Allbright and Daniel Jeremiah.
2) Several reporters have stated that they are hearing that the Rams want OT badly. Schrager guaranteed we go offense and had us selecting OT. Other reports were more general stating we wanted an OT badly.
3) Vegas odds have 6 teams in the top 18 picks with strong odds to select an O'lineman first.
4) Add it all up, if the Rams want one of the top 3 OTs, they will have to trade up.
Basically what Dz said. A lot of tea leaves pointed to us going for OT to my dismay.

Didn't Peter Schrager have something about them trading up for an OT too?

If they managed to trade up for Alt, I'd be all in on the move. But he's the only "sure thing" LT star in this draft (IMO).

He had them picking an OT at 19 and basically guaranteed they go offense with their first pick whatever number it is. He is definitely one of the compelling clues.

Maybe so, in which case they would trade down, not take him at 12. They've been rumored to want to trade down.

Yes, my thoughts is that is the connection between us and them. They want to trade down to 19 to draft Nix and we apparently want to move up for a OL .

Honestly don’t see that at all. Makes zero sense on both sides.

So you guys are telling me the week before the draft our team is releasing exactly what they want to do to the public so whoever is higher up can fleece them? :laugh3:

We need to sit down and play some poker boys! Bring your checkbooks and leave your phones at the door!

Meh, we are grasping at crumbs but we have little else to do! The rumor is Schrager and McVay are good friends, so, it stands to reason that they may have spoken about it. Any team we engage with in trade up discussions is going to know what we are trying to move up for anyway. I hope its not true personally, but can see McVay wanting to do this easily.

Hmmm, maybe those teams hungry for a Tackle best grab one before the Rams at #19 cuz the Rams are going Tackle.

…but then who’s gonna draft all those Edge rushers, CBs, and DL?
You know, the positions the Rams REALLY need.

It does seem to me like a very good educated guess.

Rams have definitely taught me not to make any assumptions on their intentions. But there are a lot of indicators for OT regardless and not talking media. We lose both Jackson and Boom after this season. We invested heavily in both OG spots and Hav is making reasonable cap money too. So it seems like they will draft LT, and if you look at whether it will be this year or next this year has many advantages. First off we are in that near range of maybe getting one of them for once. Secondly next season we should be drafting a lot later and chances are it won't be as good a tackle class. This one is excellent at the top and in depth.

The most important player on this team is Stafford who is getting older and more brittle, but still has an amazing arm. I am all for getting the best LT in the draft. Whoever they think that is. We will go no where without Mathew. Keep Ajax as well for depth. Then fill in the holes with the rest of the draft and FA. I think it is the smartest move for a 3 year window.

I wonder if the Broncos are going to give Wilson a legit shot? I also wonder if this effects their willingness to trade a haul to move up for a QB? I mean, he really shouldn't, but we have no idea how they view him and/or Stidham.
I'm going to guess their idea is to trade down for multiple picks. That team needs more than a QB.

I hear you but Left Tackle is a tough position for a rookie to start and play well.

I believe there were five college OTs selected in the 1st Round last year.

All five started as rookies but none started at Left Tackle. Four played Right Tackle and one played Guard.

Valid point and not an encouraging stat. I would add, though, if the plan is for Stafford to play for 3 more years, they're not just looking at 2024.

Maybe they're prioritizing OL as long as they have Stafford. Keeping him upright does seem to be the best plan for winning in a 3 year window.

Saw Shaka Toney was cut by the Commodes could be a decent DE "project" low risk high reward kind of player and deal

Who is to say they don’t extend Jackson out at reasonable deal or go after one of the tackles later in the draft?

Look how Hav has done as a second round prospect. Also so good ones at the end of the 1st top of the second, who is to say we don’t trade up for one of them which I say is more likely with less capital given up.

Alt or Fashanu the Titans and/or Jets they are taking the top two tackles probably and Fautanu is more than likely our only play. I still don’t know if I trade up for him. However, that said, I wouldn’t cry if we did! lol

I’d bitch if we take a WR with how deep this class is and what’s on our roster.

I'm with you. If you are going off reports before the draft giving away our intent, I got my house for sale at 5 billion dollars, it's a steal hahahaha
