Jim Irsay and Brad Holmes both mentioned not being like the Rams also.

Jim Irsay criticizing anyone is funny. Holmes was trying to say it nicely but he shouldn’t have said anything, seeing that he’s no longer a Ram.
No doubt. Irsay is the king of mediocrity. Keep your liver spotted trap closed you drunk bastid.

One thing that goes unsaid I think is those teams don't have an owner with deep pockets who can fuel that approach. Stan probably backed off on it after the title too, which may be part of the reason for the change in tact. But he deserves cred writing all those checks on all that business they did to get there.

Beane's a smug prick. Dude looks like he could use an ass kicking.

This is basically a, “pack your bags and get the fuck out of here”, deal.

Buffalo was over his bullshit.
If they can hit on a wideout replacement they could come out of this ok in the sense of moving on from his BS, as a rip the bandaid off type move. But he's still a hell of a wideout and I think with that QB in Houston throwing to him he's in for a good season or two at least. He's a better wideout than Hill in many respects I think and this QB he's got now can win from the pocket.

I lived in Buffalo as a lad. Most of my relatives are die hard Bills fans. My dad suffered tremendously through the 4 Super Bowl losses. I’ve declared them as my favorite AFC team. With all that said, I’d say the window has glossed on them as a SB contender. KC, Balt, Hou, Cin are all ahead of the Bills.

I'm sure you know that roster far better than I do. But if I was in Beane's shoes I'd be determined to make sure that QB has talent around him. They sort of remind me of the Rams as it seems like their OL wilts in the big games. Obviously ours got the job done but overall I was very glad to see the investment in it this offseason because I want to see a group that can face up to those top defensive fronts you're gonna see late in the playoffs.

And there's a lot of pressure on them to replace that wideout they just dealt. So I think best spot to do that is late first then do what you gotta do on the OL.

Chiefs lose stadium renovation vote, leaving their future in doubt

Jackson County voters rejected a sales tax to pay to renovate Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs and build a new stadium for the Royals.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas released a statement after the measure failed 78,352 to 56,606, per KMBC.

“Over the months ahead, I look forward to working with the Chiefs and the Royals to build a stronger, more open, and collaborative process that will ensure the teams, their events and investments remain in Kansas City for generations to come,” Lucas wrote on social media.

Chiefs team president Mark Donovan threatened the team could leave if the measure didn’t pass. It could have been an attempt merely to scare voters into extending the 3/8th cent stadium sales tax.

It didn’t work, though, and now the Chiefs’ future really is in doubt.

“We respect the process. We respect the decision of the Jackson County voters,” Donovan said in a prepared statement Tuesday night. “We’re disappointed. We feel we put forth the best offer for Jackson County. We were ready to extend the longstanding partnership that the teams have enjoyed with this county. This is important. . . . We will do and look to do what is in the best interest of our fans and our organization as we move forward.”

Buffalo Bills General Manager Regrets Passing on Los Angeles Rams' Puka Nacua

Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua was the steal of his draft. Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane commented on the rookie before trading Stefon Diggs.

On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills traded receiver Stefon Diggs and a couple of Day 3 picks to the Houston Texans for a 2025 second-round pick. The deal puts a dent in Buffalo’s competitive window and raises questions about the supporting cast surrounding superstar quarterback Josh Allen.

Dealing Diggs is yet another attempt the Bills will make at getting younger and cheaper before presumably reloading with a healthier cap space situation. But for now, they’ll turn to Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, and Khalil Shakir at receiver. Of course, general manager Brandon Beane could also take a receiver with the No. 28 pick in April’s NFL Draft.

Coincidentally, Beane spoke recently about his Buffalo tenure. His failure to add an impact receiver to complement Diggs looms large as the Bills scramble into next season, and his comments reflect just how painful missing out on a star receiver could be.

On “This Is Football,” Beane revealed one of his biggest regrets as Buffalo’s general manager was letting receiver Puka Nacua fall to the Los Angeles Rams in the fifth round.

“I thought Puka did a really good job with the Rams,” Beane said. “You knew he’s a tough player, but not [a player you’d expect] to produce what he did. I thought McVay and those guys really used him well, and it was like a perfect fit, too. I don’t know if he would have done that everywhere, but McVay had a vision and knew how to use him.

“As his stats were piling up, I kept watching how they were doing. It was a perfect fit.”

The Bills also took a receiver in the fifth round last year -- Justin Shorter -- but he failed to see the field.

Nacua, with head coach Sean McVay calling the shots, went on to have the most productive rookie season a receiver has ever had. Generating 1,486 yards and six scores on 105 catches, Nacua came out of nowhere and immediately established himself as one of the league’s best receivers.

His impact on a rehabbing Rams offense was invaluable, and paired with a healthy Matthew Stafford and the emergence of running back Kyren Williams, Los Angeles was able to make a run to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Buffalo once again fell short in January, losing to Patrick Mahomes when it mattered most for the third time. A point of contention for the Bills had been receiver Gabe Davis’ role in the offense and the inconsistencies that provided. With Diggs’ declining production adding to Buffalo’s drama, one can only wonder what kind of impact Nacua could have had.

In all likelihood, the rookie receiver found himself in a perfect storm of football graciousness, giving him the coaching, quarterbacking, and opportunity to produce the way he did. Elsewhere, as Beane noted, that kind of production becomes harder to guarantee.

If nothing else, the Los Angeles faithful can thank their lucky stars for Nacua and the production he promises, even if it means the road ahead is tougher for their friends in Buffalo.

Damn that sucks. I like Siciliano.

Andrew Siciliano, face of 'NFL Red Zone,' and others out at NFL Network, per report

Changes are coming to NFL Network.
According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, the NFL's flagship network has cut ties with on-air personalities Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, James Palmer and Will Selva. An NFL Network spokesperson would not confirm the names of those who were laid off, but did confirm that cuts were happening.
“As is normal course of business this time of year, we are evaluating our talent roster for the upcoming 2024 season and beyond,” NFL Network spokesperson Alex Riethmiller told The Athletic. “That process results in renewals, non-renewals and additions to our talent lineup depending on programming needs. To those departing talent, we give our sincere thanks and appreciation for their hard work and contributions to NFL Media.”
The four that were reportedly laid off are some of the most popular and talented personalities on the network. Siciliano is a well known anchor who used to be the face of "Red Zone Channel" on DirecTV. Stark is an analyst and sideline reporter. Palmer is an analyst who also breaks news for the network. Selva was the anchor for the morning show "Good Morning Football."

According to Marchand, this is part of a broader cost-cutting effort at the network, despite the fact that NFL Network is directly supported by the NFL, the single most profitable professional sport in the entire world. The network's morning show, "Good Morning Football," recently announced it would be relocating from New York to Los Angeles, and thus far only one of four hosts have announced they're making the move west.
This cost cutting could be a way to make the network more attractive in a possible equity swap with ESPN. Back in January, The Athletic reported that the NFL had been in "advanced talks" with ESPN to acquire an equity stake in the network. In exchange, ESPN would gain control of NFL Network and other NFL Media assets. There have been no updates on the status of that deal since the initial report.

I’m disappointed ESPN is becoming involved. I hardly watch them anymore and very much enjoy the NFL network as it is. I wonder how much of the game replays will be affected.

Wow, a lot of leases expire within in the next decade. ( except the renters, $1 dollar till 2049, jeez). I wonder how much teams will pay after renegotiation.

NFL Net will likely be scaled down to almost nothing but games in the next few years and then sold off to a streamer/network. It just didn't turn out to be what the NFL envisioned it. Oddly, there's a small lane for ESPN to regain some dominance in NFL coverage.

Media is a bloodbath for the next few years. Sadly, there aren't enough chairs at the table and a lot of people will have to find jobs elsewhere. Scilliano may have to take a huge pay cut and accept being something inhouse with the Rams with his connections.

I mean, I like GMF an okay amount. I'd be curious if they can offload it to another network but don't know much about how it's produced.

It's just gonna be a crazy few years for media going forward. Free lunches are gone. I tend to interface with decent amount of people in the field and even some at Rams and NFL (media side) and the stress is through the roof. Everyone is afraid for their jobs all the time. Everyone.

So maybe it got to the point the NFL figures, "thank you for all you've done but we don't need so many pushing our product like when we started this network. It's basically on solar power now!"

I prefer NFLN but then I'm 3,000 miles away from the Rams. ESPN is okay but over the years I have taken a dislike to some personalities from way back, back, back and the fact they want to provide a limited product only to entice one to pay for better coverage. It's disappointing ESPN has their grubby little hands on the product but.....

I rely primarily on Rams forums because with the amount of members, little goes unreported. And it's discussed at length, which is extremely entertaining. I avoid the good cop/back cop shows....<cough?>Florio<cough>Simms<cough>...and prefer to listen to Cowherd (besides being pretty good, I think he's a closet Rams fan). I like listening to Skip but only because he's an a-hole who exposes himself to so much pain. So I guess that makes me a bit twisted. Guilty as charged.

I will pay for NFL+ because I enjoy watching past games, miked-up and shit like that. But if ESPN lessens the pleasure of that experience, I'll find something else.
