Per a Rams fan page. Personally makes no sense to me, better ways to spend free agent money.
Khalil Mack to the Rams next season as an FA?

The Rams have Byron Young. There's no need to throw money at DE. I'd rather they'd address corner and WR.Yeah Rams wouldn't do that. But it would be an insane bookend duo. Tackles would be shitting their pants every week facing those two.
Give me DJ Reed, Tee Higgins, and Alaric Jackson and I am done with FA, outside of your 2nd & 3rd wave type cheap deals to plug holes. We need an elite CB not a 34 year old OLBer. Unless he wants to chase a ring, sign for peanuts, and be a rotation piece behind Young that would be a hard no.
This is my exact dream free agency plan. It worked out on Overthecap's salary cap calculator too.Give me DJ Reed, Tee Higgins, and Alaric Jackson and I am done with FA, outside of your 2nd & 3rd wave type cheap deals to plug holes.
With about $55M in cap, and some other possible savings from some roster/ contract restructures, we should have plenty to do that.
Hopefully they can do this without franchise tagging Jackson so he has a lower cap number for next year.
I initially wasn't big on Higgins, but I didn't realize he was only 25 yrs old. I think I was confusing him with another former Clemson guy, Mike Williams. This is my exact dream free agency plan. It worked out on Overthecap's salary cap calculator too.
His injury history isn't great but the Rams haven't had success with drafting the X WR position. And if they roll with Stafford next year they will be trying to win it all, so taking some risk is justified.I initially wasn't big on Higgins, but I didn't realize he was only 25 yrs old. So despite his injury history, that isn't great, at 25 yrs old, he would be worth the gamble.
Yep, 2025 is an all in year. His injury history isn't great but the Rams haven't had success with drafting the X WR position. And if they roll with Stafford next year they will be trying to win it all, so taking some risk is justified.
I'd still sign either DRob or Tutu on a cheap contract, if possible, and draft a WR or two. Even if they sign Higgins they'll need depth behind him and Kupp's replacement likely in 2026.
fuck if the Rams could make that happen it would be a dream come true.Give me DJ Reed, Tee Higgins, and Alaric Jackson and I am done with FA, outside of your 2nd & 3rd wave type cheap deals to plug holes.

Well like I said the Rams wouldn't do that. And I'd prioritize another route as well. But there's a big difference between Young and Mack. And as it pertains to pairings if we had Verse & Mack on the edges that is an elite pairing, which would have been impossible to imagine just a year ago.The Rams have Byron Young. Mack’s declining and Young is ascending.Well like I said the Rams wouldn't do that. And I'd prioritize another route as well. But there's a big difference between Young and Mack. Just kicking these things around tbh. I do like Young, and I appreciate him. He's just not in the class of a guy like Mack and I doubt he'll ever be on par with Sweat either, who is also potentially going to hit the market.
The only way it makes sense is if we sign Mack to be our #3 EDGE and let Hoecht walk. Mack would have to sign a cheap deal. There's value to having him here as a veteran mentor. So I'm not opposed to it. But it doesn't sound like Mack wants to leave the Chargers.Mack’s declining and Young is ascending.
Young has 34 solo tackles - Mack has 20
Young has 28 assists -Mack has 19
QB hits are close Young 13-Mack 15
TFLs Young 12- Mack 6
Sacks Young 7.5 - Mack 6
I don’t see it as an upgrade
Hoecht is so versatile as the third edge and he’s a veteran leader on the team with Super Borl experience. The only way it makes sense is if we sign Mack to be our #3 EDGE and let Hoecht walk. I concur on keeping Hoecht if he's affordable. I also like him a lot.Hoecht is so versatile as the third edge and he’s a veteran leader on the team with Super Borl experience.
I’d rather put the resources elsewhere and keep Hoecht if he’s affordable.
In the window that matters, which is 2025 and maybe 2026, the difference between the two is glaring.Mack’s declining and Young is ascending.
