As I said earlier, I think you have to let the Donald contract go because it's unique in how the Rams rewarded him following the Super Bowl.That’s what I was told here when I asked if ADs contract counts against the cap in the next three years and I was told it does.
So I was going by that.
The answer to my question above, using Dotson's contract as an example, is No.
If Dotson retires following the 2024 season, the full amount of his current 2025 and 2026 cap hits will Not apply to the Rams' salary cap.
