If OTC is correct, it appears that trading Noteboom would cost the Rams cap space in 2024.

Agh shit, ya you’re right. Probably not realistic then.

Yeah….we should probably revisit this early next week and see if he gets through practice
If he does & gets put back on the 53, I don't think a trade will be the issue, though. Not among fans , anyway. I think Dedich vs Noteboom for the start at LG will heat up faster than a ho's crotch in Fleet Week.

I haven't looked at Dedich's game yet to even form my usual half-assedly amateur opinion, but I thought he was only marginally better than Bruss vs LV & looked like he got saved by some stellar pick-ups from the RBs last night. I do like how balanced he stays. Kinda the guard version of Kyren; he turns lack of stature/length into an edge.

Noteboom has always been a bit waist bendy, no ? Even more since the Achilles. You'd still like to have him as the swing tackle, though. Sadly, Darrisaw's freak injury only emphasized that. Who was the swing for LAR last night, anyway ? McClendon ? That's a sphincter-winker of a thought, isn't it ?

Given O'Connell's familiarity, it would be interesting to see if MINN view Boom as that big an improvement, if any, over Quiverberry (spelling ? haha..), but I also doubt the Rams would want to shallow the OL depth even fractionally after the nightmare they've gone through. And why try to save the season of a top NFC rival even if Boom seems more trojan horse than savior ? Then again, I wouldn't piss on a Vikes fan if they caught on fire in front of me, so I might not be entirely objective here .

Note definitely has value as a back up here.

If a long-shot deal is made, then we need to pray that Jackson stays healthy.

He’s probably the best option for Havenstein too right? Valuable guy for sure, considering Staff’s been knocked around enough for one career.

Probably. Noteboom/AJ/Havenstein were the big 3 last season and supposed to be this year. That’s a pretty good group of Tackles to get you through the season.

Injuries create opportunities, though, and we got a chance to see McClendon play both spots early on. He fared better on the left side, IMO. Still, that’s a good group to have. Sure there’s a dropoff, depending on the combination the Rams might have to start due to injury, but we know what we have—it ain’t exactly chopped liver.

Bottom line:
This is a deeper OL than the Rams have had in a while.

I hope to see Noteboom moved this offseason, as I have said before, "he is made out of glass".

Good News is that Noteboom is not under contract for 2025.

Bad News is that to minimize his cap hit this year, he will still count against the cap in 2025.
Per OTC, it looks like the 2025 cap hit (called a Void year) will be $10M.

Avoiding the question of how good our depth actually was prior to this season...

We have no depth at LT. If we lose Jackson at any point it is season over. Boom is a mirage.

Once we get Avila back we will have excellent depth at OG.

At C we are fucked if we lose Limmer. Once Jackson returns we will be good there on depth.

RT depth is not good. McClendon is sloppy and gets overpowered. I'd say he is a cut below an ideal depth RT.

So in summary I'd say our interior OL depth is good. And our tackle depth is subpar.
