I don't like having to put Noteboom out there, but if he stays healthy, stop laughing, he is better than McClendon. Note has put a game or 2 together when we needed him in the past. McClendon is slower to react to pass rush moves and the only thing that saves him is the refs don't like to call holding on every play.

But you will probably get your wish, cause Note can't seem to even make it thru a game. He lasted 3 plays in the Detroit game before he tweaked his ankle and played like shit the rest of the first half till they took him out.
I disagree. Noteboom plays better at Left Tackle. He was horrendous at Right Tackle and McClendon held up better after replacing him.

McClendon handles power rushers better than Noteboom. I agree that he struggles with speed, but chipping the TE can fix that.

I can't really argue your RT point with Note because I can't remember seeing him there much, but I know McClendon is a penalty waiting to happen. And they won't call it until we have a big play.

The tendency of McVay to leave the back ups on their own until they fuck the whole offense up and then later maybe help is the real problem. He has cost us very winnable games because of it. He should start this game giving help to Noteboom, letting him get comfortable and getting the offense rolling and then see how the backup plays on his own later in the game. But we know he won't.
Havs injury really worries me.

Totally agree with this assessment. I can't tell you how many times I was yelling at the TV this year about no help for the backup RT/LT when we had backups in. If Hav can't go I hope we do have a good contingency plan @ RT.

I attribute it to stubbornness. He insists that when things don’t work it’s either his play calling or execution. However, backups often don’t have perfect execution. That’s why they are backups.

I’d prefer it if he would provide help early also. I don’t want Stafford getting killed because Noteboom can’t handle a bull rush. If that happens McVay will get very conservative with his play calls and it will look like the offense against the Jets. I want to see the receivers have a big game. I love the running game but Stafford and the receivers need the work live action too.

hmmmm.... question -- is the ROLB usually a bull-rusher, while the LOLB a speed-rusher??

If you go by the traditional line of thinking, then yes. The best pass rusher is often on the QBs blind side. The best one is usually the fastest, but teams don’t stick as closely to the model these days. For instance: Myles Garrett rushed over the LT but Bosa is usually over the RT. TJ Watt is usually over the RT also.

I recall Calais Campbell over Right Tackle and taking Noteboom’s lunch money until he got injured. Calais is more of a power rusher.
