The problem is that there is no in between. Geno Smith and Daniel Jones contracts just screw the pooch. Neither guy gets even half of what they got on an open market. These QB salaries are simply out of control. Not to mention the prices for trading for someone now.
There is even more reason now to zag and go without a high paid QB. Have a great coach and assistants - build a great OL and skill weapons. Continue to draft QBs that you feel can play soon and grasp your playbook. Occasionally reach for a high ceiling guy. Use them until they need to get paid big bucks and trade them off (maybe qualify and trade). But keep circling in young QBs in cheap salary ($5-15M) and save that cap space to use elsewhere.
So Brad Holmes turned a first round pick into a 7th? That’s the first move he’s made that I don’t like.Swift to Eagles. Goddamn it.
Agreed. Horrible. But Swift fell out of favour in Detroit. They probably had less than 0 leverage, and I suspect if they kept him, he would have been benched by the coaching staff, as crazy as that sounds, because they seem to have had enough of him and have now drafted a RB high. He was already being used as RB#3 many games behind Jamaal Williams (now gone) and Reynolds/Jackson...So Brad Holmes turned a first round pick into a 7th? The 4th is in 2025I'm pretty sure he was a 2nd round pick and they got a 4th next season. And this is his last year of his rookie deal. If they're not gonna extend him what else could they do? He's always injured or can't finish games, apparently.

I guess you are right. If he stays healthy he’ll be a steal. He had 144 yards against the Eagles.I'm pretty sure he was a 2nd round pick and they got a 4th next season. They would need to create some additional cap space. The current cap space is a little misleading because the Rams only had 44 players under contract heading into the Draft.I think the Rams really need to go out and get a couple of veteran free agents before their roster can be set for the coming season. Specifically, an inside/middle linebacker, a veteran cornerback and an extra arm at quarterback.
Could they cut Noteboom and Allen to create some space? They would need to create some additional cap space. The current cap space is a little misleading because the Rams only had 44 players under contract heading into the Draft.
I hope they bring JJ back, but I have my doubts.I think the Rams really need to go out and get a couple of veteran free agents before their roster can be set for the coming season. Specifically, an inside/middle linebacker, a veteran cornerback and an extra arm at quarterback.
No neither create space we've said this beforeCould they cut Noteboom and Allen to create some space?
Not according to Over-the-Cap.Could they cut Noteboom and Allen to create some space?
No on Aboushi, Skura or Nsekhe.I hope they bring JJ back, but I have my doubts.
Didn’t they retain some of the veteran Olinemen that they picked up midseason? Like Oday Aboushi.
Getting rid of Robinson (21.4), Ramsey, (19.6) & Floyd (19.0) is 60 mill of Dead Cap aloneNo on Aboushi, Skura or Nsekhe.
The Rams are carrying $74M of Dead-$. Only Tampa has more.
Most teams are under $25M. The Bengals have about $500,000 of Dead-$.
And people talking about getting rid of Boom and Allen creating another almost $22 million combined. That yikes getting bigger.Getting rid of Robinson (21.4), Ramsey, (19.6) & Floyd (19.0) is 60 mill of Dead Cap alone
Yikes
