Woods and OJB are both over 30 and will be coming off serious knee injuries.

One FA WR that looks intriguing, and perhaps affordable, is DJ Chark. Injured most of last year and has played on awful Jax teams his entire career. 6' 4", 210lbs, and 4.34 speed.

Yeah, I have him in my mock thread, although probably still out of our price range.

Harris can really track and really catch the ball. And he's tall and really fast. I expect to see a lot of him next year. But he will be competing with Jefferson, not OBJ.
I think he'll supplant Skowronek and battle it out with Van Jefferson for the #3-4 WR until OBJ comes back. The dark horse here is Tutu Atwell. Everyone is writing him off, and I do too partly because its funny the whole Tutu/Creed Humphrey narrative. But there is a universe where he develops a lot and is a big contributor next year. Plus you know McVay will draft another mid round rookie. Wouldn't be surprised again if our 3rd round pick was a WR.

Don't hate on me, because I am a Woods fan.

I think with OBJ injury, he is back, if OBJ had stayed injured, I think Woods would have been moved to make room for the $$ needed to sign OBJ.
I think that Woods is great, but his game is similar to Kupp.
OBJ brings things to the table that neither Kupp or Woods do.

OBJ injury may be a blessing in disguise, because it may lead to all 3 being on Rams roster in 2022. Something I did not see possible due to salary cap.

All 3 could be healthy come playoffs next year. Would make Rams O as formidable if not more so than GSOT days
I see it similarly. I had this offseason decision figured as Woods OR Odell. And I think that was gonna be a tough one for the Rams because they love Woods but it was pretty clear which way they'd have to go.

Now with Odell's injury it seems like the Rams might be able to have both for the playoffs. Which is a windfall for them if it happens. Kupp > Odell > Woods is a really nice trio.

I'm still hoping we get a nice 2022 version of Chatarius Atwell. One thing I'll give him to be honest, he ran pretty clean routes in the preseason for us and he is a natural hands catcher. Better hands than Skowronek no doubt and maybe even Van Jeff. Really hope he puts on some weight in year two and gets things going early in the off-season so he gains some confidence.

If only he weighed about 30 pounds more. He's got the speed and footwork. And hands.
Yea he just turned 22 so hopefully he fills out. That plus a full NFL offseason heading into year 2, he better put on muscle. Remember also he caught covid early and was isolated in a hotel by himself for over a week.

Very true. I'll be honest, I always forget about him.

That would be great. Definitely pulling for him. And I still imagine him on a jet sweep has to be respected.

Yeah, I would offer Odell a one yr deal, full of incentives again. He would be betting on himself and would train all season at Rams park and then bring him back in early December for the playoff run.

Meanwhile I would look to add another viable target whether it ve a vet or a mid round rookie to compete.

Jefferson gave off some Reynolds vibes this week. He doesn't fight for the ball or make the tough catch often enough. Has to get more physical or he will be nothing more than a #3/4. Maybe the Rams realize that and it's why they brought in OBJ?

Yeah I don't think Jefferson is going to cut it. I know he's young. I know he's a great team guy and great dude and all that. But he really is a non-fit in how he doesn't attack the ball. That play where Stafford pointed to the endzone was his QB telling him "I'm gonna put the ball up for you here to make a play." So for him to just sit back and wait for it and let the DB intercept it really irritated me. It's not that he misjudged it. Because there's a lot of throws like that with him. I mean that has to irritate the shit out of McVay too not to mention the QB.

And that was a really big moment for a year two receiver I realize. Huge moment. But is it likely that next year he'll suddenly be fighting for those balls. I don't see it. I suspect that for a round two pick he's gonna be a real marginal return type guy. I'm feeling like he's a WR3 career type. Sort of like Reynolds in that he's missing some shit.

So re: bringing in fresh blood... Someone probably gets moved. Because these guys represent investment and while say Jefferson's value isn't all that great they shouldn't have trouble finding a taker if they feel like he won't be able to overcome his nature in fighting for the ball. Some guys just aren't ballhawks.

Most likely is the Rams give him the season to start showing that stuff. But if not then someone else will take his job. That Super Bowl really demonstrated the importance of matchup threats.

While I would have zero problem with another young vet WR being acquired, I also can't be overly critical of Jefferson's Super Bowl performance, the man's wife had a baby while he's on the field, his focus was understandably less than we might have hoped.

Bingo. Yea agree Van doesn't have the skill set that fits with Stafford. He has the speed to get deep, but doesn't track the ball necessarily well and definitely doesn't win on the 50/50 chances. Remember Stafford had Megatron, Marvin Jones, and Galloday all who were unbelievable at winning on those type of throws. We have OBJ and Kupp who can do it, but we hardly ever send Kupp deep and OBJ will be injured most of the year.

Wouldn't be surprised if we trade Van, but can we afford to with the Woods and Kupp injuries? I really think we bring in a vet WR in FA because there are a number of impact names our there. And we know we can create the cap space if we need it.

This was going against the starters for DEN in preseason. No one has talked more shit on him than me but I'm usually half joking. He's definitely talented I just hate his size. But look at some of the nuances on these routes. Better than I woulda thought.

Good find @MachS

This is worth a watch, if you haven’t.

Yes, Atwell is small… that ain’t changing. But he has soft hands and look at this speed and quickness.

We can find a role for this.

Imagine Kupp, woods and OBJ….and tutu four wideouts. Tutu should have a lot of room and space with who is guarding him. Imagine what McVay could do with that scheme.

If only it was just the Super Bowl. The guy is really talented so he might turn that around but we can't have a wideout that has a passive mindset when the signal caller is a QB who wants to throw contested balls.

Still, he's only had 2 years & he's also inexpensive, and we both know he isn't going to get traded away this season, that's not McVay's style, so hopefully he can make the big leap for year 3. He had 200 more receiving yards than Reynolds had in his 4'th year, I'm not going to write him off just yet.
