Van is a great guy and has some value as a WR. But right now is become clear his inability to locate, adjust and fight for balls is a problem. It just is not a good match with Stafford and his deep ball in my opinion.

Totally agree with this. If he's not open, he's not catching it. That's kinda been his MO since joining the Rams. he was also like that in college. He doesn't have that dog in him like Coop, Woods and OBJ do. But he's a good #3 WR nonetheless. The Rams will give him another season before exploring other options.

Beat me to the punch. Van needs to study OBJ and Kupp and learn to catch the ball with his hands....he tends to let the ball hit his chest. Horrible fundamentals, also agreed with the take on the pick in the endzone. If he comes back to the ball, he need to knock it down if he can't catch it or maybe he draws PI? He can be the next guy up with a huge role in this offense if he can take the next step.

It all depends on what the coach thinks of his rookies. We can’t really know. We have no idea how Harris or Atwell will fit in.

But if Odell comes cheap it’s a no brainer to have Woods, Kupp and Odell as the three main guys.

Don't hate on me, because I am a Woods fan.

I think with OBJ injury, he is back, if OBJ had stayed injured, I think Woods would have been moved to make room for the $$ needed to sign OBJ.
I think that Woods is great, but his game is similar to Kupp.
OBJ brings things to the table that neither Kupp or Woods do.

OBJ injury may be a blessing in disguise, because it may lead to all 3 being on Rams roster in 2022. Something I did not see possible due to salary cap.

All 3 could be healthy come playoffs next year. Would make Rams O as formidable if not more so than GSOT days

It will be more than a year since the OBJ signing, we could finally see all 3 on the field together…. one can hope!

I was having a hard time seeing all 3 fit contract wise. Now, maybe?

Harris can really track and really catch the ball. And he's tall and really fast. I expect to see a lot of him next year. But he will be competing with Jefferson, not OBJ.

Do these guys develop?
And don't forget Benny Skow. For a 7th round pick he played well, and his game will develop a lot more. I'm not sure anyone knows how Harris will fit into this offense. I think McVay was hoping he could add a little weight and make a great TE, and he just might grow into that, but we just don't know at this point. And Tutu? Who knows what his ceiling is. Hopefully it's higher than what we saw this year.

Bennett William Skowronek needs some work on route running & hand placement plus being able to catch the football away from his body.

Skowronek is excellent on special teams, blocks like a TE and has deceptive speed, but he has plenty of work to do, in order to become a reliable target for John Matthew Stafford.

If OBJ hadn't been injured, he most likely would have been the Super Bowl MVP, and some other team would have given him
a ridiculous offer to play for them. So he would be gone.
Next year is Kupp/Woods all the way with the hope that TuTu somehow turns into the next Ty Hill.

You confused the hell-out-of-me for a moment there.

Realize now you meant Tyreek Hill of the Chiefs.

However, for a minute, I was wondering why you wanted Atwell to be like Tye Hill ... one of the worst first round draft choices the Rams have made over the past 20 years.

The thing about receiving is that a player needs more than one or two secondary traits to be any good. Even adding one a primary skill like speed isn’t enough.

Just being big with long arms, great speed isn’t enough. Hands or route running are essential. It’s tough to take a guy that has neither and make it work. Then when you add rawness there is a lot of missed information from years of learning that cannot just be taught and absorbed in a year. That’s why keeping Harris at TE would have been ideal. The receiving side of being a Tight End is less complex than it is for receivers. The NFL has had college basketball players convert to TE with success.

Harris moving to receive will be a tougher transition in the NFL.

Special Teams consideration:
C = Powell - Brandon Powell came in and took that return job like a boss. He is sure handed, he is fast, he is decisive where to go. This guy is the reason Tutu needs to come to training camp and ball out because Powell has taken his only perceived job for next season... if we resign him. He offers nothing in the receiving game though so he's graded as a C strictly because of his return ability. Tutu needs to show more as either a receiver or a return man to beat this guy out for a roster spot imo.

I remember Stafford saying something about him having a 100 yard receiving game with him in Detroit, so I wouldn't write him off as just a returner.

For a 7th round pick Skow showed up. For a WR3/4 he has a long way to go. That long pass that he couldn’t track for a TD comes to mind. But he was only a rookie.

And the stop that led to the pick.

Woods and OJB are both over 30 and will be coming off serious knee injuries.

One FA WR that looks intriguing, and perhaps affordable, is DJ Chark. Injured most of last year and has played on awful Jax teams his entire career. 6' 4", 210lbs, and 4.34 speed.

Really need either a quality vet looking for a ring on a cheap deal or mid round pick that has the upside & athleticsm to be a factor.

Was clear in the SB that nobody could beat man coverage except for Kupp or OBJ. They need help there since OBJ & Woods could be question marks next year.

Just rewatched the superbowl and we really need obj back because van is a big step backwards.

After obj went down, van ran a deep route to the endzone and Stafford pointed to the roof with his left arm saying jump ball but van just over ran the ball, made no adjustment to come back to the ball and didn't even jump for the ball while the DB tracked and played the pass much better. The rams were lucky that the db proved the cliché that he's a db because he can't be a receiver.

But that was van's game all night. He has no fight for 50/50 passes. If it doesn't land nicely in his his hands in stride, forget about about it. He's basically a larger, slower, tavon Austin with a slightly bigger radius.

If I'm working out receivers at colleges, I'm bringing Ramsey with me and running alot of routes where I make the receiver have to fight for jump balls.

Sure, you want to see how they run routes, but I think you need to purposely see how they are in jump ball situations.
Yeah, get Ramsey hurt fighting for jump balls with a draft prospect... Yikes!
