With the 85th pick, the New England Cheats select Ed Ingram, OG, LSU

1649431690646.jpeg

Ed Ingram played well in 2021. He executed his assignments at a high level and showed impressive strength with the power to get a push at the point of attack. Ingram's technique as a pass blocker looked improved over 2020. He had a solid week at the Senior Bowl and then worked out well at the combine. Some team sources think he is going to be an excellent value pick on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

7/3/21: Ingram impressed team evaluators in 2020. He was a tough run blocker while showing some athleticism in pass protection. Some team sources said as a player, aside from the character concerns, Ingram could have been a second-day talent for the 2021 NFL Draft if he had decided to skip his senior year. Ingram was probably wise to return to school if he can show scouts that the character issues are a thing of the past and he has become a hard worker who stays out of trouble and is not taking football for granted.

Ingram is a gifted talent who could end up rising if he stays on the field and plays up to his potential. As a freshman in 2017, Ingram was the Tigers' starting right guard, and he played really well in his first season. Ingram sat out the 2018 season with a season-long suspension. He returned to the field in 2019 and mostly was backup behind Adrian Magee and Damien Lewis.

Ingram is strong at the point of attack and forceful run blocker with athleticism. If he stays on the field and out of trouble, he could be an early-rounder if NFL teams can get comfortable with his off-the-field issues.

I fell in love with the tape!

View: https://youtu.be/ohHloup4w2k

I was excited to get him at pick 82, so much so I woke up at 4 am to pick him! (All though I have to admit, I was eyeing Logan Hall as well. Damnit TK 42!)

Alec Pierce.JPG

Pierce is a very athletic, explosive receiver who aligned in the slot and outside in college. He has good height and size and can win consistently versus press coverage because of his good foot quickness and balance. He can sink enough to keep his chest from being exposed to more physical cornerbacks and maintain his path because of his good core strength and body control.

He is a true ball-winning receiver who high-points throws in the red zone and can consistently adjust his body on back-shoulder throws when running go routes. He has good length, and his natural hands as a receiver on throws to and away from his body allow him to maximize his catching range.

Pierce has more nuance to his game than just ball-winning on contested catches. He improved as a route-runner as the season went along and showed attention to detail with his depth and breaking points. But he does need to continue to refine his route tree and polish.

Overall, Pierce will be an immediate contributor for any NFL offense thanks to his true ball-winning ability that will make him a target in the red zone. He is a good blocker who plays with good effort on every snap in both the run game and on any route he’s asked to execute, which also gives him potential to be utilized as a "power slot" on snaps.

His improvement as a route-runner last season combined with his overall athleticism shows there can be even more room for growth. His package of explosiveness, hands and improvement as a true receiver gives Pierce the upside of a very good starting Z wide receiver for any NFL offense. He can also bump inside for more than a handful of snaps per game and rack up touchdowns for designer plays in the red zone.

Ever do Long Beach? I'm going Sunday, section 24, final hairpin--and the weather's gonna be perfect--partly cloudy, 68F/17C high.

If you have any tips, 503, I'll take them.

With The 86th Pick

In The Third Round

Of The 2022

ROD NFL Mock Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders Select:

Logan Bruss

Guard

Wisconsin

621cf8c4aa73d.image.jpg

Overview

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 309 lbs

Logan Bruss is what you would expect from a three-year starter at Wisconsin. He has a great understanding of angles and leverage and uses both of them to his advantage. Unlike some lineman with poor length, you can see Bruss understand his limitations and find ways around them.

The area where you can see Bruss show his athleticism the most is when he gets off of the football and can work downhill. He could work out as a guard in a zone-blocking scheme with his ability to pull into space and find defenders at the second level. Overall, his skill set brings a strong floor of a player you know can be a swing lineman or a starter in a pinch.

With the 87th pick, the Arizona Cardinals select Matthew Butler, DT, Tennessee

1649441969779.png

Coming out of Garner Senior High School in Raleigh, Matthew Butler was a four-star recruit who expected to make an impact on the Volunteers right away. He played in eight games as a true freshman (four tackles) then came off the bench again for nine contests in 2018 (13 tackles, one for loss). Butler earned more playing time as a junior, starting four of 13 games (45 tackles, three for loss with 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups). He started all 10 games of the 2020 season and posted 43 tackles, three for loss with two sacks. In 2021, Butler set career-highs with 47 tackles, 8.5 for loss and five sacks in 13 contests (12 starts). He was also named a second-team Academic All-American by sports information directors. -- by Chad Reuter

I was so close to taking Butler at the 86th. But, Raiders needed OL help as top priority. I was saving Butler for Green Bay at the 92nd, but you ruined that for me.

With the 88th pick of the 2022 ROD NFL Draft, the girls select,

Kerby Joseph, S, Illinois. He’s a raw prospect that fits the mold. Time will tell but the girls need a safety.

Glad nobody grabbed this guy! Honestly I wouldn’t mind the Rams nabbing him in the third or 4th if he’s there. I was the first to call Rochelle last year when nobody said a peep about him (at least I didn’t see anybody talk about him), this guy could be legit for us opposite Ramsey with experience and technique honing.

With the 89th pick The Buffalo Bills select Martin Emerson, CB Mississippi State

Emerson possesses ideal size for the cornerback position at the next level and was exceptional at putting caps on opposing receivers in college. He allowed only one catch of 25-plus yards last season.

With the 90th pick of your Superbowl Champion Rams on Demand 2022 mock draft, the Tennessee Titans select Dylan Parham, G, Memphis. With Saffold heading to Buffalo and with Ben Jones quickly approaching his mid 30s, the Titans have perhaps found their future starting guard and eventual replacement at center.

With the 91st pick the Buccaneers select

Zachary Carter DT Florida

Overview
Carter is viewed as position versatile, with the ability to play defensive end in an odd or even front. His skilled hands and quick feet make him a perfect candidate to move inside in nickel packages as a rusher. Some evaluators like his girth and envision him adding weight to become a full-time three-technique in a one-gapping front. Carter possesses the anchor for the point of attack, but needs to improve his stack-and-shed technique to make more plays in the run game. He's a skilled, thoughtful rusher, but a fluctuating motor creates inconsistencies on tape. The sum doesn't always equal the parts, but he has the size and skill to become a quality starter with splashy, interior rush potential.
Strengths
  • Consistent improvement and production for three years.
  • Broad chest and back with burly hips and thighs.
  • Physical traits and toughness to play inside or outside.
  • Well-crafted rush plan with workable counters ready to go.
  • Uses dip-and-rip, bull-and-pull and stab-and-run moves from the edge.
  • Rush hands are strong, violent and efficient.
  • Interior rush keyed by lateral agility, quick hands and hip flip.
  • Leveraged, upward strikes get under blocker's pads.
  • Strains to neutralize drive blocks and secure positioning.
  • Upper-body strength and hip torque to displace a base block.
  • Pushes forward with secondary effort when his tank is gassed up.
Weaknesses
  • Chin out way past his feet during engagement.
  • Excessive leaning limits his ability to stack and shed the block.
  • Spends too much time on the ground.
  • Variance of rush energy and effectiveness during a game.
  • Long, early punchers stall out the rush plan.
  • Lacks explosiveness to find direct route to quarterback off the edge.

"He's going to be at different positions depending on the team and the scheme but in a perfect world, I see him as a wide-five (technique)." -- Personnel executive for NFC team
