He'd be a very nice rotational add. Our short yardage D line would be much more stout as he essentially would by far be our heaviest D lineman. I can see other fans crying foul if we sign Gilmore, and Hicks hahahaha.....let's sign em all and get Clowney too lol

Best part about Hicks though he collapses the pocket tremendously well. If you have Hicks Ashawn AD then our backers just Wow the run stopping should be one of the best but the interior rush could kill many a game plan!!!

He would be a helluva rotational piece. Especially if they deem Robinson or Gaines as a trade piece.
Hicks for Robinson or Gaines? No thank you. Great player but those two just had great seasons and they're both 6 years younger than Hicks. The Bears would probably jump at that offer, which means the Rams shouldn't even think about it.

Hicks is a FA. I'm just saying if the Rams wanted to use Gaines or Robinson for a trade piece for an EDGE.

Hicks is a free agent. I think Otto was referring to a trade to another team, with Hicks the replacement.

Always liked Aikem Hicks' game but his best football may be behind him He will turn 33 around mid-season.

I like the Rams' DL with Donald, Gaines and Robinson. For depth which is important, they have a lot of options ... Bobby and Earnest Brown, Michael Hoecht, Marquis Copeland and Jonah Williams. The Rams really only need two of those five players to fill reserve roles.

I agree, I would simply add him and that's it.

That's exactly what I meant. Not saying I'd do it, but he'd be an option if someone wanted Robinson or Gaines for an edge or CB

Hicks has been a great run stuffer for many seasons but the mileage on him has taken its usual negative effect. In truth, there is no need for a Hicks in this DL. @Allen2McVay is on target with his response.

When you have 3 NT's types DL'ers in Gaines/ Robinson/ B.Brown (all of which are very young & highly cost-effective salaries) & run-stopping talented DL'er Copeland/ Hoecht/ E.Brown there is a far larger need for a pass-rushing DT.

Didn't realize that. So why not ignore Hicks......A'Shawn was a beast the 2nd half of the season and so was Gaines.....and use that money for Edge? It's similar to....say.....trading Higbee to add another WR in free agency. Why, we are set there. And like I said, Hicks is 32....A'Shawn is 26 and Gaines 25.

I agree completely. I was just saying, if a team wanted Gaines or Robinson in exchange for an EDGE. Hicks could be a bridge gap.

Edge still our biggest need by far...

Honey Badger makes sense, its def a luxury but guy is so versatile and can man the slot when Ramsey plays outside...

No thanks on Gilmore...He's a man coverage corner (whose best days are behind him) who would be playing out of system with us...

Yea this is where it makes sense to me. Given the loss of D Williams, Ramsey likely to play outside more so having Matheiu in that nickel/star role is perfect for him. He's a damn good blitzer as well and would offer a ton of versatility.

I agree and not only that but DT we lost SJD so Gaines Ashawn starters if on goes down Brown is really maybe the only true tackle. So a three headed rotation for a 17 game season and hopefully a long playoff run and repeat is nice.

What makes Hicks a great add for cheap if that was the case is how he disruptive he is on his own now ad AD and a wall in Ashawn or Gaines who has some rushing ability as well. Floyd and Hollins rushing or holding the edge wow!

Last part is the opposition running game is going nowhere and if you can generate that type of in your face pressure and have quick mistake type throws for a ball hawking type like Matheiu that's nice.

So for me it's predicated on where they go if I'd want matheiu.

If they went cheap Hicks then yes absolutely on Matheiu.

If they went Clowney I'd go corner like Callahan or I believe Fuller still available.

If they only do one I'd go corner

All dreams and hearsay but everyday bis football lol

I'd be OK with trading Robinson or Gaines and a pick or 2 for someone like Danielle Hunter and then add hicks. Otherwise, keep both our guys. I think they'll be even better this season.

Agreed. Guys tend to make big jumps after 1-2 redshirt seasons with the Rams. It’s entirely possible that one or more of Lewis, Garrett, Hollins or even a draft pick takes the edge/OLB rushing spot big time and doesn’t look back. Enables us to wait until mid season to evaluate what our needs are and address that spot with a big Snead type trade - could be an Edge or could be CB, iOL, etc.
