Cooley is a good young coach who could replace Evero.

O'Connell needs to find his own damn coaching staff.
Yeah, it’s pretty ignorant of him to raid amcVay of some many coaches. Without McVay O’Connel is likely still an assistant coach.

Trying to steal Cooley is bs. That’s not even his guy. Staley brought him in.

Seriously. I don't have any numbers, and I really don't follow any other teams, but are the Rams getting poached more than any other team lately?
It sure as hell feels so!

I always there was a limit that an Assistant could bring as a new Head Coach, maybe it's an unwritten rule, but right now O'Connell is starting to piss me off.

The Los Angeles Rams know that they are losing secondary coach Ejiro Evero to the Denver Broncos, and that news comes just one year after losing Aubrey Pleasant to the Detroit Lions. Not so the case with assistant secondary coach Jonathan Cooley.

The Rams have blocked a request by the Minnesota Vikings to interview Cooley for a role, indicating a promotion is likely in order for the soon-to-be third-year L.A. assistant coach.

Cooley was selected by the NFL for the 2019 Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Rams in 2019, following a near-decade long career at the college level. A former defensive back at John Carroll University, Cooley eventually returned to JCU to spend two seasons as the secondary coach.

Among those in the NFL who attended John Carroll University are Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, Raiders GM Dave Ziegler, Chargers GM Tom Telesco, Texans GM Nick Caserio, Commodes director of pro personnel Chris Polian, Eagles personnel executive Dave Caldwell, and quite a few more. So there should be no shortage of popularity and alumnus connections for Cooley moving forward.

For now, he stays with the Rams, giving Sean McVay at least a tiny bit of continuity with his staff moving forward.

Figured that would happen with Evero going but it's a very good thing to see! I'm sure Ramsey had input on this as well.

Good! O'Connell can get lost.

In my view, it's unprofessional to take a head coaching job elsewhere, and then try to pillage your former team's entire staff. He already is interviewing Thomas Brown and now wants Cooley too?

How about some gratitude, for not only receiving the mentor-ship and springboard to a head coaching gig, but for not having your interview blocked as the team was competing for a Super Bowl?
